Fleet Carrier Beta - how do I buy FC modules?

I've spent my $1M in the beta and picked up a fleet carrier. It's been dropped off at a nearby system, and I can see how to transport the thing (though no idea where to get Tritium).

But for the life of me I can't see how to spend credits to unlock the other modules. Not in a space station, not in the galaxy map, not even if I fly over to the next system and dock on the Carrier itself.

How do I activate the Universal Cartographics part, etc?

When I go to the #4 screen, and try to do the thing it says:
"The fleet carrier must be in a Carrier Administration system to install this facility"
so I try to move it to Agartha where I bought the thing but it says
"No free slots"

So does this mean I just... can't upgrade the Fleet Carrier? Because I haven't moved my FC yet, and I don't know what a Carrier Administration system is - much less how to find one that isn't clogged with other people's carriers. :-s

Some star systems are designated to be Carrier Administration ones. Your Fleet Carrier needs to be in one, to be able to install/uninstall modules. You have to find one that isn't full and still can accept your Carrier.

On a Galaxy map you can set a filter by Services, and there to choose by Carrier Administration. But unfortunately, when I tried it 2 days ago, the Services filter was not working - all stars were greyed out, even the stars that match the filter (first I tried to use it to find a star system that sells Carriers - had to use Wiki at the end).

To add / remove modules your carrier has to be in a carrier admin system, the same systems you buy the carriers themselves from.

Thanks. I guess I shouldn't have raised my hopes at all.

I know the game is called 'Elite', but if a game feature can be blocked off by a couple hundred players simply not moving their ships?.. Ugh, this entire thing has been an ongoing series of disappointments. :-(

It's weird, I'm in Belgeth that is an administration system and it doesn't let me buy modules, I even jumped on the closest stellar body to the station offering the service but no luck!

Carrier Admin systems are not the ones where you buy the carrier from, those are carrier vendor systems.

while vendors also happen toact as admins, there is a whole list of systems that are carrier admin systems, but not vendors.

He is not buying the carrier - he is buying the modules for his already bought carrier. The response is right - you buy the modules at Carrier Administration systems.

That response was wrong because you do NOT need to go to those systems to outfit a carrier, you can go to administration systems, even those that DON'T sell carriers.

As i understand it, this is very much still in the "community figuring it out" phase: so far all those systems seem to have in common is an Industral/High Tech economy with high population, but i don't think it's known already why those systems specifically have admins and others don't.

And the usual 3rd party tools don't work in Beta. Although, suspiciously, some of those tools had outages before and during beta, which makes me wonder if we will see new features in those 3rd party tools when the update rolls out.

Please be adviced that the list is almost certainly incomplete, as it is a list of the known admin systems at the time of writing.

The best in-game tool will probably be the Galaxy map filter by Carrier Administration services. When they fix the services filter to actually show the stars that match the filter. In the first Beta it was working, as I used it to find a star system that sells Fleet Carriers. In this Beta it doesn't show those systems, too.

It's orbiting the planet where Rowley city is, simply when I took that screenshot I was on another part of the same system not orbiting any main body.

EDIT: problem solved, you can't buy modules directly, you need to transfer credits to your fleet carrier before, that was it!
