How to increase engineer rep
I am stuck at grade 3, upgrading from the dweller. I tried selling items at the base but still the grade 4 is locked

By upgrading your modules. Higher the upgrade - faster the upgrading bar fills up. You can even install some module from the engineer's outfitting and burn some materials to upgrade it, then sell it back, if all you wanted is your rank upgrade.

Not all engineers will take selling items as an upgrade. And selling should be at a profit. Some take the Cartographics data.

Are you using a pinned blueprint? I had a similar issue recently and using the pinned blueprint from the remote workshop didn't increase the engineer's rep, i had to go there in person.

Try it this way:

Fly to Dweller

Upgrade for example your power distributor first on grade 1 until grade 2 shows up. Continue with grade 2 until grade 3 is available. Same now with grade 3 until grade 4 shows up.

This

Using remote workshop will NOT increase reputation. You need to fly to the engineer and engineer your stuff there to increase reputation.

Oh, great. I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wasted A LOT of resources via pinned blueprints just to understand that engineers reputation won't increase while using remote workshop. This is just fking awesome. Is there any in-game description about that, maybe I missed something? I mean how the ♥♥♥♥ should I know about that?!
God, I'm really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mad right now.

You mean, like by reading what it says on the "About this workshop" window when you click on it? The "Using this workshop to craft blueprints means you will not gain reputation with the associated engineer." paragraph?..

Totally! :)

But don't worry, you will engineer a lot more of ships, so you will get those ranks maxed out.
