Elite Dangerous server tick rate
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, everything you never really needed tol know about it can be found at the following links
https://fynestuff.com/tickrate/

For exploration and mining, a low frequency tick rate like Blizzard's standard 20Hz is fine, but for combat it needs to be at least double. I have been unable to find any information on what the tick rate is for Elite Dangerous. I don't pay for anything less than 40Hz. Can anyone help with what frequency Frontier has set the tick rate for this game so I can decide if I should buy into it?

I've no idea about a tick rate but what I can say is for PvE i've never encountered any issues with lag or some sort of tick interfereing with combat.

If you are talking about PvP that's a bit trickier, since it all depends on your connection to the other player(s) as it is P2P. With a good connection its smooth. If you are fighting against someone in Australia (assuming you're in Europe) then you might not be hitting them where you think you are hitting them (or maybe even not hitting them).

But if you are thinking about getting the game for PvP i would advise against it. You have to go out of your way to get PvP and most of the time the people you might attack are not looking for PvP and will get quite salty if attacked.... assuming you can even find someone to attack in the first place. If you are looking for competitive PvP against others wanting it, well, you've got a lot of work ahead of you before you can even contemplate it, unless you find people willing to fight you in unengineered ships.

There's no server tick rate in Elite: Dangerous as the servers are only responsible for matchmaking and the background simulation which is not real time.

Player to Player interactions are peer-to-peer and only occur when instanced with one or more players (ie. you're in the same area and have been connected by the match-making server)

I mean, technically there is a server tick rate ... it just happens to be 0.0000157 Hz more or less 😅

And one has just happened a few hours ago. :)

Actually i was talking about the daily tick, which won't happen for another three hours give or take 😅

mate, we know that, it's a joke.. :steamfacepalm:
