Random Message for Boom Data Delivery...
Still pretty new to the game. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious?

I got a message, I assume from a Federation person or something. It invited me to do a "Boom Data Delivery" mission, which I assume is supposed to be on a board somewhere.

I go to my transactions and it says to meet some dude in a specific system. I pull up my system map and the mission icon is above a system and the name matches the one on the transaction. I go to it.

Once there, there's three different stations. None of them have a mission icon or anything next to them. I did a discovery scan and used my FSS when I got to the system, too. I flew to all three of the stations and none of them had a notification on the boards or anything. The transaction merely says this system and to meet the dude. Patrick Pulsinger I think was his name. It's probably not relevant.

Am I overlooking something? haha. I really can't find this dude. (it does say who I'm supposed to deliver it to, though.)

He´s somewhere in the system. You have to wait until he finds you.
You can also fly into the nav beacon, scan it and maybe it shows you the mission position in the system. :jasminhappy:

I've not used a nav beacon before. Do I just fly up to it and scan it some how?

I've also been in the system for probably 45 minutes or so and no one has contacted me or anything.

First of all, unless you want to roleplay this thing for fun, it's not remotely worth doing. The pay is terrible and it'll take a long time to get past the buggy part, let alone finish.

If you want to do it anyway, then first of all, you have to accept the mission. If you've done that, then pay attention to whether it says he wants to meet you or just to deliver the data.

If he wants to meet you, enter the system where he says he wants to meet you and expect a private message from him. If you don't hear from him within about 15 seconds of entering, jump out and jump back in to get it to work properly. If you do, drop out of supercruise right where you are and he'll drop in with you, fly up to you, and tell you he's given you the data. Ignore the advice about nav beacons; they're for other kinds of missions.

If it just says to deliver the data, then it'll tell you which system and station to go to. Go there, dock, and open the mission board, and one of the minor faction contacts will have an option for you to hand in the mission.

Thanks! I'll be sure to try that out!

I would like to play through it. I usually like to meta these types of games, but this one seems interesting enough to me.

I did indeed accept the mission when I got the original message and it does indeed state that I am to meet him in this specific system. If I got a message upon arriving, I surely missed it. I'll try hopping out of the system I'm in and hopping back.

Thank you for your help!

If what Ratt told you doesn't work out, then try scanning the nav beacon in the system you're supposed to go to. Drop out of SC, approach the beacon, target it (like you would another ship) and scan it. Takes a few seconds. Hopefully it will give you more info. Then go back into SC - or follow any instructions you may have been given from scanning the nav beacon.

And keep in mind that what you target in supercruise is not the actual beacon, but only a drop out location. You will have to target the actual beacon, once you are in normal space, to be able to scan it (you will see its dot on your radar).

I tried again and failed, but noticed that he did indeed message me like stated above, and he did drop a "low wake" thing or whatever. I targeted it while I was in super cruise, but I couldn't find it after dropping out of super cruise.

What do I scan it with? The data scanner? Or is there a special scanner?
If you found your contact in supercruise, then you don't need to scan the Nav. Beacon. Your contact will drop out of supercruise, and you should drop out on his low wake signal. When you are in normal space, that ship should appear near by, and that pilot will tell you what to do next. You don't need to scan it, or anything else.

If it doesn't appear, you might try to go back to the supercruise and wait for him to contact you there again. Then to repeat going back to the normal space on his low wake signal.
