Since then, they probably think that the majority of their player is perfectly happy with the existing controls, which, you know, is true.
Also, no offense, but the input control methods are clearly stated in the product page, so maybe you should've read that before making a purchase.
Off the top of my mind, X4 is somewhat similar to Elite, and has the control scheme you're looking for, so maybe check that out...but don't buy it until after you have read the product page more carefully ;)
for me, having my hands bound to keyboard or a hotas isnt immersive. sitting at my desk playing a vr game isnt appealing at all. your perspective is different then mine. having my hands in space is more immersive for me then being tied to my desk using a specific set of controls
Well, you might see that, for many many people, using a control setup that's EXACTLY like the one you see in VR (HOTAS) gives a hell of a lot better inmersion, as it provides a tactile feedback that touch controllers can't offer at all.
To me, just keeping my hands in the air, while right in front of me there's a joystick and throttle, is wildly uninmersive. And might i add, incredibly uncomfortable for long sessions, which are common in Elite. I tried with a game called Ultrawings, and after a while it hurt like crazy due to lack of arm support.
So there you go, you have your answer: why did developers not include Touch Controller support? because very few VR users in Elite asked for it, or even want it in the game.
And please, don't compare the flight model of NMS with Elite. That's like comparing Mario Kart with iRacing.
edit: also, you're whining about a game you got for free. Just saying... ;)
