VR Controller Support
Why in Bloody Freaking Hell do they not have VR controller support? this is a huge let down. was looking forward to some free hand flying as i dont really care to buy a hotas for any vr game as i dont like them. not impressed. what the hell are they thinking not putting any tracking in the game and calling it a VR game. bull toads.

It would be nice to have VR controller support, but a Xbox controller works fine.

i dont play VR though to be bound to a controller or keyboard. if i want to do that ill play on a screen. its not cool for them to call it VR when its just a port to the HMD. and with the age of the game they dont plan to add support for it. not cool on their part

The more important question is why would anyone want to use VR controllers in a flight sim?

because i like my hands to be free. thats why i play vr. just cause you dont like it doesnt mean others dont. put yourself in others shoes not your own man...

Well, for starters, those controllers didn't even exist when the game launched with VR support in 2014. Back then, the only VR HMD available, the Oculus CV1, used Xbox One controllers.

Since then, they probably think that the majority of their player is perfectly happy with the existing controls, which, you know, is true.

Also, no offense, but the input control methods are clearly stated in the product page, so maybe you should've read that before making a purchase.

Off the top of my mind, X4 is somewhat similar to Elite, and has the control scheme you're looking for, so maybe check that out...but don't buy it until after you have read the product page more carefully ;)

But your hands aren't free if you're using controllers.

for me, having my hands bound to keyboard or a hotas isnt immersive. sitting at my desk playing a vr game isnt appealing at all. your perspective is different then mine. having my hands in space is more immersive for me then being tied to my desk using a specific set of controls

Well, you might see that, for many many people, using a control setup that's EXACTLY like the one you see in VR (HOTAS) gives a hell of a lot better inmersion, as it provides a tactile feedback that touch controllers can't offer at all.

To me, just keeping my hands in the air, while right in front of me there's a joystick and throttle, is wildly uninmersive. And might i add, incredibly uncomfortable for long sessions, which are common in Elite. I tried with a game called Ultrawings, and after a while it hurt like crazy due to lack of arm support.

So there you go, you have your answer: why did developers not include Touch Controller support? because very few VR users in Elite asked for it, or even want it in the game.

And please, don't compare the flight model of NMS with Elite. That's like comparing Mario Kart with iRacing.:steammocking:

edit: also, you're whining about a game you got for free. Just saying... ;)

It's not about like our dislike. It's about being impractical for this game. Too many of controls, and you can't use the on-screen virtual buttons pushing cause there are a lot of them to push every second without looking at them.
