No mouse cursor with any of the options in VR

The first time I launched ED in VR I didn't have a mouse, did some searching, found the graphics option and setting it to render windows-based cursor was the option that worked for me, and I had a working mouse cursor.

However after a week of fighting Virpil throttle problems, I have those fixed but now no mouse cursor again. I've tried OS cursor, render panel-based cursor, and back to windows-based cursor, no mouse.

Tried rebooting, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe there is something in controls settings that uses mouse for menus that got disabled, while you was fixing your throttle control scheme?

been playing elite for a few years in VR and i have never seen a mouse cursor

Do you play in VR with keyboard and mouse?

First, thanks for the answers, with so many threads it's hard to be seen.

For both of you, I have a Virpil T-50 CM thottle, the ACE rudders, and a VKB stick. Working in desktop mode I've configured all the controls so if I could actually get into game play I can control everything that way. I think, I haven't been able to try.

I can't think of anything that uses mouse for menus.

For malorob, ok, I must venture a question... how do you get past the opening menu? I'm sitting there looking at a menu that says continue/exit/etc. and I have no way to click on any of them and keyboard doesn't work either.

The thing that's very weird to me is that Render Windows-Based Cursor worked, once. I don't understand why it isn't now.

If you have any ideas to try, I'm very open to suggestions. I've gotten this far, seems silly to not be able to play because I can't get the mouse to work in a game in 2020. I thought I had left that kind of thing behind with DOS.

I think ASDW keys work for menu browsing by default, with Space to select and Backspace to go back.

Thanks Dolphin. Yeah, that's the first thing I think of when starting up an A-list title in 2020 is that yeah, I'm sure the primary menu nav is with the keyboard! *facepalm*.

After reading the above I was able to finally get in game, thanks again Dolphin. I need to modify my controls, there were all sorts of primary functions that I still had to revert to keyboard to perform. Actually I'm wondering how people do play this in VR, I'm not sure that even with the crazy number of buttons that I have, that I have enough to not need the keyboard every 30 seconds. Off to do some more configuring.

Oh BTW, if I look at my monitor while in VR mode, there's a mouse cursor there. If anyone knows why it's drawing there and not in my VR headset please let me know, it is an HP Reverb. If nothing else I can take the headset off and point it to what I need to see and use the mouse on the monitor. Another thing I didn't expect to be doing in a game like this.

I just had this today with a clean install for G2 after migrating onto Steam from Oculus. All it needed to see the Mouse Cursor was to switch the Option for it to the other and back again to start working.

one of the hats on the stick should be programmed to menus ans select I have a hotas warhog setup and my right hand thumb rests on the HAT that controls the menu selections

check your sticks website see if they have a config file for Elite Dangerous

I use Voice attack and set it up for keyboard commands. That way I can use my hotas for the more critical things but things like ‘change Cockpit mode’ are set so that Voice Command types a keyboard key(s). The mouse would still be nice though. Mine doesn’t work either.
