For the menus (chat, navigation, ship helm/srv/crew, ect) you can set it so that you have a different button for each menu or (like I do) use one button and scroll through them all, one at a time.
edit: oh, you mean the symbol that you have sellected. It's what I always called the pinkie finger button that is at the bottom of where you grip the stick.
I use mine as a "shift" key instead of the clutch button on the throttle so ED doesn't see it.
(I use the clutch button for boost and with pinkie button for silent running)
im not using the default mapping for for me its the top button on the throttle.
I dont get how to make it happen. Need to learn manual lol.
But actually i like default Elite saitek configuration. It suits me best.
Except as i understand button "A" is not used and i set use it for frame shift drive.
Also i disabled hardpoint retracting on fire.
Think of the pinkie trigger like the shift key on your keyboard. Hold shift+f and you get a different function than just hitting f by itself. You can map it so that you pull and hold the trigger while pressing any other button on the stick or throttle to do handy things like switch weapon groups, fire chaff or heat sinks, etc. mostly, I use the pinkie trigger commands for battle related purposes
I'll open up the game in a few minutes and edit this post with instructions on what to do the simplest way
Edit: just open up "controls" in your options menu, scroll down to whatever command you're wanting to modify, highlight the command and you'll see a direction to "Press Key For" Go ahead and press the pinkie trigger, followed by another button and you'll see that show up on the screen. Scroll down after confirming and press "Apply" Exit out to the game and check to make sure it works as intended.
Yes the problem for me was i pressed pinkie and elite recognised my combination as a solo button. For example pressing A and Pinkie + A were same for elite.
But anyway. Default settings/functions looks like i like them. :)
