RAXXLA Locations
I submit that RAXXLA is located in the Cassiopeiae constellation. It is most likely in the Alpha/Schedar system.

I do not have the time to investigate in game. I barely had the time to table-top investigate. I owe my wife & kids already big time. Being snowed in saved me a little. So who is out near there and/or has the time?

Note, I get 50% credit when you find it there.

A further possibility is if it is something that is tied relatively to the Andromeda galaxy and not affected by anything in the Milky Way galaxy, it may not stay in the same system in the Milky Way galaxy.

A system that has been checked already and did not have Raxxla in it may now actually have Raxxla in it, and it may not rotate around any stars but appear somewhat stationary. Traversing between systems over a slow period of time could be one reason why it hasn't been found for 35 years.

It could be in between systems far enough out, similar to Hutton Orbital that no one has approached a distance to it to be able to scan or see it.

Could it be in a straight line path from the Cassiopeiae constellation, the stars that point to the Andromeda galaxy?

it was in front of you all along.

^ I think that means hidden in plain sight, so my other thought which is also in plain sight but invisible usually has been processing for a day or two....

The Dark Wheel.

We see that map of the galaxy with it's defined arms and what we might call half-arms such are the Orion Spur.

The photo-negative view of that will make the dark areas show up as bright spiralling arms of the galaxy.

The dark patches are also galactic arms in their own right. The space between the visible arms are also arms of the galaxy, but dark.

This sounds a lot like a Dark Wheel.

So I think that's where you find them.

Could be however when this all started back in 1984 and the original story the FSD'd were in their infancy, jump ranges were very limited. For that reason, it is thought that Raxxla must be close to SOL and not very far out since distant travel just wasn't available back then.

So I think it may be that a dark wheel is a black hole. And that wheel knows where or can point to or focus on the Raxxla location.

The Dark Wheel toast refers to the mother of galaxies which could be Cassiopeiae constellation and a brow jewel. In mythology she is the mother of Andromeda and Raxxla is said to contain a portal of sorts to the Andromeda galaxy.

In the system at her waist (27 Gamma Cassiopeiae) (approx. where she would give birth from her waist area) is a black hole a very dark black hole and it can be focused on the heart and soul nebulaes also in the Cassiopeiae constellation. Heart is also mentioned in the toast, a vagabond heart.

There are other in-game indications that could be interpreted to this area as well.

It's just not obvious, so we need to be looking for the unobvious and possibly looking for situations that create the unobvious becoming obvious.

For example, it was indicated in-game (I think) that "the key is the door." Well the "W" shape of the Cassiopeiae constellation main stars could be the shape of the teeth of a key and one of those teeth/stars is a door.

Read the original 1984 Elite: The Dark Wheel story before unspoiling this. http://www.iancgbell.clara.net/elite/dkwheel.htm
Now I am going out on a limb here but here is another thought to process. In the original story and early on, the ships were "snake" ships Cobra MK II and III. Also in the story, Alex was not ready to face his foe by ship or experience but was thrust into it uncomfortably so. There is the possibility that he got help if those ships have a comms backdoor from an outside source that impaired the enemy snake ship and gave him an advantage.

It is possible that the snake ships have a comms backdoor that Raxxla can comm on and is actively searching for on a hidden freq such that you must find Raxxla in a snake ship. That a newer ship that did not exist back then does not have the comms "key."

Cheers, ta and thank you! I do realise I am catching up here but hopefully it adds some excitement for you veteran bods haha :D

Thanks G. I will do more reading.

PS: I did almost write veterinarian.

Your ideas are totally welcome, and you may be correct. New eyes can bring new ideas, one or more of which could be a key.

IIRC the system that contains Raxxla was actually found already, but is permit locked. It matched every single lore description and all the hints given. To be frank I don't think Raxxla is important at all to current Elite lore so they just don't bother with it.

We do not know this for sure.

What if...

Raxxla was the seed put in to the stellar forge to generate the galaxy?

This means everything I'm aware of a developer saying on the subject regarding "it's in the game" or "someone honked it" would be technically true but would ultimately put the location out of reach because...well, it's everywhere.
MrHappy 2022년 9월 4일 오후 11시 43분
All this out of the box thinking is really good.

Just one grating thought bouncing around my head. Whether Raxxla is a physical location or not, if it can't be found there would be zero point in it being in the game at all. I can't believe that it will all just end in nothing and "hey thanks players for completely wasting your time".

There must be at least one way of registering it as a discovery. Whether that's a star or a system body or an energy wake....... Well, dunno.

I still think the empty spaces between the spiralling arms of our galaxy are also arms in their own right but dark and resembles a Dark Wheel of sorts. I don't know how we create an organised search of these areas, they're massive.

I believe if FDev put the time into making a codec about the Dark Wheel and Raxxla, then they put the time into at least doing something out there to be discovered, as lowly as it ultimately might end up being, something exists. In my opinion with this theory, I don't think it would be permit locked, even though its highly possible that they might have reserved it into a storyline for sometime.. and I highly doubt it's on foot, as likely its as old as the codec entries.

I've often wondered if the name Raxxla, could be recoded into something similar, as reason why nobody has been able to data-mine anything about it yet. You have two reoccurring spaces, and two different, with a total of six that could be reduced to four.. but much past that my brain just goes into dyslexic confusion of patterns. Honestly, I'd never call a so called paradise by its real name, as it wouldn't be a paradise anymore.. unless you really like miami beaches.

I've gone down this worm-hole in my own hunt, but it all ended up just being field experience with no pudding. I figure its beyond my pay grade and went back to thrashing stuff in my mamba. But I do love a good reading into others.. keep it up, as eventually it'll turn up.

You know all those unidentified signal sources you can never be bothered to scan? It's hiding in there...
Manwith Noname 2022년 9월 5일 오후 5시 13분
People can find an object that doesn't actually exist in a system and only appeared as a tiny texture in the background of a pretty isolated and obscure star system almost immediately when it is implemented in to the game but nearly eight years on, nobody has discovered Raxxla.

I have a hard time believing it is there as anything tangible.

Edit: Or on the other side of the coin, it's so obviously hidden in plain sight as the place where the dark wheel openly reside.

You could be correct , but here's this maybe, that's a pretty bright "Mother Ship" straight up that can be seen from everywhere almost. Raxxla is most likely a deactivated artefact mug manufacturing site possibly buried on some planet somewhere like Hutton Orbital with one lonely stalagmite sticking up that you would have to run over and get a flat in your SRV to find it. I'm thinking it does not respond to scanners or eye sight until it pokes you in the eye. ;)
Manwith Noname 2022년 9월 5일 오후 5시 33분
Heh, I have almost said previously there's a lonely sign post on a barren planet somewhere with no means of detecting it with scanners and you just have to stumble on it and it reads:

"Congrats CMDR! You found Raxxla!"
