Looking for a decent jump/exploration asp explorer build
Basically im going to use an asp explorer to taxi around and get all the engineers unlocked. So i need a decent non engineered build to get some data and cut down on some travel time to get all the stuff i need to engineer a anaconda ive got. Cost isnt an issue either as I did the road to riches and mined a ton of void opals. Can anyone give me a build?

No hardpoints, if you want them, will need bigger Power Plant and might want bigger Distributor
Has small shield, if you don't want, might be able to get smaller, lighter Power Plant
Could go with Class 6 Fuel Scoop but really not needed. You can scoop and jump quickly with 5

Thanks for the build Commander, will get this together now and start my journey to grab all the engineers o7

Just D grade everything except FSD, if going far is recommended to also take fmu and srv.. No weapons needed and a A" grade fuel scoop . no armour.

For long range exploration you will want the 2A powerplant though. D rated powerplants have heating issues. Also the 2A powerplant is lighter than the 3D powerplant and has more power. It's by far THE best powerplant for the Asp Explorer (for exploration builds).

You can further engineer it for additional heat efficiency so you will always be safe on your travels no matter if you jump inbetween binaries or drop into white dwarfs. Always take the lowest weight A rated powerplant for exploration. In the case of the Asp it's a no brainer since 2A has more power, better heat efficiency AND is lighter than the 3D plant.

as xpedx said, but B rate the fuel scoop, very much good enough and halves rebuy cost, and forget the AFMU, you won't need it around the bubble, put an srv in it instead, the powerplant should be the smallest A rate, the rest can be D rate as morph said

So i dont need the AFMU for cruising around the bubble? gotcha,

a little better build, more jump

@OP: You will need SRV for engineer unlocking especially if you want to unlock their Grade 5 access at the same time so you can pin blueprints and do it remotely on Anaconda.

And i would highly recommend just unlocking Felicity Farseer (FSD engineer), engineer the FSD on Asp, and go for Guardian tech farming and unlock FSD Booster modul. That gives you additional 10Ly jump range for Asp/Conda after you purchase it (it's an Optional Module). Then continue with rest of them engineers.

Also bare in mind that lower class/grade thrusters may screw you over on higher g planets. Same goes for power distributor, make sure you can still boost as that may save your ship if you screw planetary landing approach.

Yep just experienced the pain of lower grade thrusters on planetary landing for meta alloys. Came in like an asteroid but luckily the shields held up. As it sits im currently going for felicity and will soon go for the guardian tech. After that i will be going for every other one just to get it out of the way.

be glad its not a 5g planet or you may not have been able to leave lol (well you could log into non horizons elite but thats a last resort) :)

There are some things you may not need, like shields, point defense (are those the top ones?), or SRV. However, this is a decent all-round, i think. Could probably swap out one AFM for a cargo, if you wanted (for Ram Tah's missions).

Oh, non-engineered. Why would you do that? You are flying to the engineers...

And, if you have a conda. Why not just refit it to Jump, it's got a much higher non-engineered jump distance. And, the parts are cheaper than buying an ASP.
