Elite Dangerous

gaurdian shield boosters
whats up with these things, they seem to have thier own distributor draw value or something
my 8C bi-weave which is normally quite happy chugging along on 3pips all of a sudden has trouble staying charged at 4pips after stacking 2 size 5 G boosters
at this rate the things are terrible, they seem to behave like a whole new baby shield generator, without telling you this
conclusion:
ripped-off!! :tgrin:

You mean the shields start to discharge when not under fire?
no, they are fine when you aren't taking any damage because you don't have dizzy draw then, but as soon as the damage starts piling on (CZ for instance) it starts wanting to cave even at 4 pips
but the things say nothing about having dizzy draw

Interesting, will take a look. I have a CM4 with several of these, but not taken into combat yet.
yeah, this i have only observed on my cutter with stacked boosters, so there is a lot of draw on shields, but something is not right because i can run a prismatic on the same config/same situ no problem also, i shudder to think what the G boosters might do to that though

On a Cutter? Looking at the numbers these things are not of much use to this ship.
My 8c bi-weave with 6 boosters have 2000+ shield capacity and those things just add 215 ..... waste of module slots for such a ship.
And if they really have a distributor draw.... they are completely useless.

well, yeah, that is why i stacked 2 to begin with, my bi-weave actually packs 5000mj so anything less than 2 is worthless, and especially so if dizzy draw gets added

Hmm, I have a C5 on my new Krait but am using C6 bi-weave, and it's not breaking as fast as a C7 bi-weave on my Clipper or Cutter.

Might test lowering FSD booster priority from 1 to 3 in CZ and see if bi-weave recharges faster.

Gave it a test.

My CM4 has 702 shields from a bi-weave, 2 D rated boosters (for resistances) and 3 size 4 Guardian FSD boosters.

Tests went fine. With 4 pips they regenerated without a problem. At 2 pips they drained quickly when recharging. At 3 pips they drained but slowly.

With 4 pips they were back to full strength quickly, so no issues for me.

Keep in mind that's 3 guardian boosters as well.

So yeah, i guess each adds draw, which makes sense, but no idea why you are losing charge with 4 pips.... is your capacitor engineered? Mine is charge enhanced.

Also, i think /me is right. Its not something to add to big ships. They don't need them. Great for small ships though as they really add Mj.

yeah G5 charge enhanced standard on all my ships
well, they say nothing of dizzy draw, but it does seem to be there, that's my gripe really
4 pips puts it back up, but only just and there is no need to do that without G boosters
yeah, smaller ships they more suit, but having to pip manage even more in them is not helpful, power is at premium to begin with for most of them
even on the big ships they could be useful anyway, take /me's thermal 2000mj cutter, stack 4 G boosters and you have nearly 50% more mj, not to be sneezed at

My goodness, I think you are right A_Aunt. The FSD booster does draw power even though not in use. My C6 bi-weave was recharging faster after I lowered FSD booster to lower priority than HPs.

Thanks guys for identifying this :)

Heh, i think you misunderstood me, was talking about the guardian shield booster. But yeah, all modules draw power even when not in use, except weapons which only draw power when deployed.
yeah, i'm talking about dizzy draw to, not power draw, though i may have made that not so clear
quite a few of my ships need those FSD boosters to turn off when i deploy though, power hungry stuff these things to

So Guardian FSD boosters do not draw power when not in used?

yes they do

I'm confused now. Then, why did A_Aunt said I misunderstood him and what's dizzy draw?
