differences in eagle vs imperial eagle?
so i really like flying fast small ships mostly due to being bad at flying bigger ships but also since fast ships in VR are so fun. i have flown both the eagle and imperial eagle and cant notice enough difference other then the ieagle's speed. can you guys help me figure out which would be better for me?

I'd go with Imperial, since it's slightly more durable. Eagles are like origami already, so fragile.

Also, iEagle has a faster top speed, but its roll, yaw and pitch rates are about 25% lower than the non-imp variant.

If you're going for combat, the imperial eagle will potentially have higher damage output.

If you mostly enjoy zipping around, race ship style, though... It would seem the imperial eagle has a higher "zooooooooom" potential :

Here's the thing, though: if you enjoy the zoom factor, and you bothered to unlock Palin, might as well use Enhanced Thrusters for maximum zoom-iness :steammocking:

The iEagle is faster and has a medium size hardpoint and better power plant, but the Eagle is the most agile ship in the game.

I personally love my Eagle, specially in VR:

Also, if you're having fun with small ships, try an iCourier with enhanced performance thrusters.

The iEagle needs to sacrifice too much to be really fast, while the iCourier can be fast and still combat-ready.

Well, I had forgotten those even existed. If we're going that way, and OP isn't opposed to trying a different ship, the utmost zoominess is probably achieved with a Viper :

645 m/s without boosting. 806 with boost. 5 seconds between boosts, meaning you haven't even slowed down yet and you can already boost again. Could probably be even faster without the shield, but crashing without one would scatter it into space dust ^^'

This thread makes me wish racing missions were a thing.

My iEagle does around 679 / 905, with 7 sec boosts. I can't go far with it, but I am using it to catch wakes around a station, and there it is very good. It even has shields, too (have to disable them when the wake scanner is active). :)

So, tiniest FSD you could fit, then ? The experimental builds above were intended to save as much weight as possible without crippling jump range too much, but I suppose if you're willing to sacrifice that too, then you can rename your ship "The Flash" ;)

Tiniest everything, actually. Even the fuel tank. :)

But it is a very specialised ship, built only to catch high wakes. And it does that job pretty well.

"FTL" is its current name. :)

Damn that's fast. Share your build, good sire.

I can't speak for Dolphin, of course, but a quick try at Coriolis with "tiniest everything" plus some heavy engineering gives something like that : https://s.orbis.zone/68-v

692 / 923, but that's probably the most extreme setup ever. And now I want to try it :P

You probably wouldn't want to fly it - it's basically a hull with Enhanced Performance Thrusters attached to it:

But it's good to fly around a station, scanning for wakes.

Why to wait to be pulled? ;)
