the slider is map zoom
the thumb i disabled it as it would be like alt+tab and in VR when you can not control your ship any more and your heading for the sun or main star could be the oh heck moment...
even the mouse wheel dose the same thing so i stay away from them
flight stick mode switch you have 3 modes meaning diff sets of binds
but for me i keep it simple
the flight stick has been mapped already for use with elite so just check in options in game
if you re having a problem with mapping the keys you can download the software
https://www.logitechg.com/en-au/products/space/x52-space-flight-simulator-controller.html#945-000025
click on link you should see flight stick the half way down the page software, then look for downloads should give you the software if you dont have it.
i dont bother with the mode switch and sum dials on throttle i dont use as they just dont do much for me.
hope this helps you get started have a great week o7
1. You can use one of the large ones to give the FSS frequency an analog axis. Feels kinda cool to use the dial for frequency. Other than that, very little use for them.
2. No. People usually use one of the hats on the stick and the smaller silver 4 ways on the throttle.
3. You can make it do that i think, but it's not all that useful. I'd set up a different button as your pseudo alt key.
4. Forget it. The X52 has button ID's that will make you writhe. You'll never be able to look at your input settings ingame and remember "ahh, that's what that button does" because they're all called "Joy 1" "joy 1" " JoyX 3" "Joyx 4" "axisY" "axisY 2" and some other stuff. Your best bet is an image or a video.
However I also want those to be menu navigation.
My goal is to get everything into the sticks so I can upgrade to VR once I'm muscle memory on all of it.
Most of the mode functions, and multiple key mappings is for flight simms like DCS world. Where you have a actual flight mode, combat mode, and landing mode, or setup a mode for mid air refuel.
Edit typing this on phone. It is extremely brutal. Apologies for the mess.
Not sure I'll go full VR, that looks super obnoxious with the map.
apart from that it works very well.
and i too play in VR
