What is the best armor to engineer?
I finally unlocked Lena or whatever her name is that allows you to make modifications to your hull reinforcements and armor plating.

Sooooo I'm wondering what the best engineering package is in your opinion for armor. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I'm not going to do the hull reinforcement engineering right now, but any input here is appreciated as well.

In my opinion, the best one is the heavy duty engineering on a lightweight armour. No weight increase (multiply 0 by anything and you still get 0), just pure gain of strength! :)

Not for combat ships, of course. :)

Hmm! It says that if I choose light weight engineering for my military grade armor, I will lose hull points???

I personally go for Reactive Surface Composite then slap Thermal Resistant on it , for combat.
For any other purpose i don't bother, just use the free no weight option.

Selene must go with a new alias after getting a bad name for getting CMDRs dirty break and hauling ore to get her services ;P

Whilst lightweight reduces your ship's hull integrity, you can jump further and faster. You can use experimental effects to redeem some of the loses and just ensure you get better shields that don't break easily.

For my next ship, I'm going to buy a type 9 defender and slap heavy duty armor on it. See how much armor I can actually engineer it with for cargo hauling. Put turrets all over it too lol

Get the Type-10 instead. The Type-9 is just heavy. :)

type 10 has lots of utility slots too, shield booster the crap out of that ship

Heavy duty that, use construction paper.
price to protection, military armour-lightweight(this increases resists, so the hit point trade off is worth it, and still better than HD lightweight) coupled with heavy duty HRP is the best bang for your buck
PvP worthy

HRP??

For best resistance increase all-round, go with Reactive Surface Composite with thermal resistance engineering and layered plating experimental.
That should get all 3 resistance types over 15%, which you can supplement with Hull Reinforcement Packages (HRP) as needed.

If you're hunting Thargoids, Military Grade Composite with Heavy Duty and Deep Plating would be better, though, since you'll want more HP overall instead of resistances.

Is there any way to get some corrosive resistance? Cause the one time I fought a small thargoid ship, it hit my ship with some acid that ate away at the hull. I had to break away and go to a repair port. :lunar2019scowlingpig:

Guardian hull reinforcement module adds corrosive
