Guardian Modules/Weapons
So after over 200 hours, I decided to finally get the guardian FSD booster blueprint, and I love the boost, put it on almost all my ships.

My question is, do you believe any of the other guardian modules or weapons are worth unlocking and using, and why? Looking for opinions. The plasma charger especially looks fun. :served:

From what i've heard and seen none of the weapons are any good apart from the gauss canon as that appears to be quite good AX weapon.

As for modules, it depends, the guardian hybrid power plant and distributor are better than default human counter part but cannot be engineered and these are quite heavy on top.
So if you have engineers and mats to do it, the human modules are way better.

Shield booster module is used to pump up the HP pool of your shield (it is the same thing to shield as Hull Reinforcement package is to hull).

Guardian fighters are not bad, but human fighters can have chaff launcher which is quite useful if you fly in multi-crew.

look at it this way ... if you can unlock it now then you wont need to do it after wards if you change you mind down the track .

every thing has it's use's in the game "what is good for one person is not the case for another and vise verser"

and besides from what i have seen in this game things do progressive lee get harder
meaning
things were much easier to unlock back a few years. "just hope he devs dont make the grind even more in the next update" the big one for 2020

Balance was never a thing in E:D and there are some utterly useless things in there including some guardian stuff.

Unlocking them modules is a grind, whether you choose to take time or to do it efficiently, it's not worth it in either case as there are better options to focus on instead.

The only Guardians which are worth are:


Weapons


Guardian Shard Cannon (for easy Thargoid interceptor kill)

Guardian Gauss Cannon (only good if you´re aiming is also good -> for easy Thargoid module kills and scouts)



Modules


Guardian Frame Shift Drive Booster (for higher jumprange)

Guardian Module Reinforcement Package (better than the normal module reinforcement)

Guardian Shield Reinforcement Package (to get more mj shields)

Guardian Hybrid Power Distributor & Guardian Hybrid Power Plant (only worth if your engineers aren´t very high and/or you don´t have enough money for a normal pp)



Fighters


XG9 Lance (nice dmg. and nearly 100% hit chance from your ai crewmember)

XG8 Javelin (very nice dmg. , but only with a human pilot, because spread is very high. Ai miss most of the shots)

The Trident Guardian Fighter is good too in PVP since it's true absolute damage. The Taipan with Plasma chargers IS NOT ABSOLUTE DAMAGE. It's Thermic/Kinetic on a 50/50 or 60/40 split.

And in PVP, most players rarely have gimbal weapons, which makes shooting down a fighter almost impossible, especially with P2P delay.

Honestly all the guardian modules are situationally useful, they are often worse than engineered components but will do in a pinch. I would get the lance fighter, medium gauss cannons and maybe a large shard Cannon and plasma charger to test them. The turreted ones are bad though, they require crew.

Oh wait the guardian HRP is utter trash

Cheers for the viewpoints. I'll probably pursue the ones Caeris mentioned and get the rest at a later date.

and if the devs fix the balance i guess my thoughts would make cents.
now if the community would stop wanting stuff before release date we should have a game back on track.
