OP: are you asking about SUPERPOWERS (of which there are 3) or POWERPLAY FACTIONS (which ascribe to one of the three Supers, or are independent)? Because there is a galaxy of difference.

There are no superpowers.
Only powers.
And the best they can, is to give you acess to some of their specific equipment. Besides that there is no any reason stay pledged, so usually cmdrs pledge, wait 3 weeks, get stuff and leave for good after this. Being pledged give cmdr only problems with the current game design. Thats all you wanna know about PP.
