Can't invite in a wing

I can't see him in private group and in open play, can't invite to a wing.
The only thing I can do is write him a message in game chat,
WHEN he's visible in friends tab whatsoever.

My brother says he has ED Server #26, and I have #11

UPD: he relogged back into the game and end up on 11th server, but we still can't see eachother. We both opened ports on our routers and disabled firewalls.
What the hell is happening with this game?

I assume that you both play in the same mode, that it also not Solo.

Another thing to consider is that until a player made his first hyperspace jump, he is forced by game to Solo mode, regardless on what mode he chooses in a menu.

If your brother is added as a friend and make sure each of you has accepted to be friends and can see each other in your friends lists on the main screen in Elite go to the main login menu and create a private group for you both, and name it something (my new server name) and then invite
your brother to the new private group you created and get him to accept it in the private group settings on the main login page on your main page.
Then when you both go to log in you can both click the private group login button you will both see your newly created private server name (my new server name) so pressing this should put you both on the same instance ( and also verify you're both using the same game mode)
If you have added your brother as a friend and he has accepted to be friends also, and both of you log on open, I think (as I haven't actually invited anyone to my wings) you press the panel 2 to bring up the second panel and your friends should show up in a list there,
there are several options for inviting someone there and also requesting to join wings there I think,
other cmdr's will correct me and this info if its wrong "(just trying to help ;)" good luck

So, this means... I have to jump to any system when I log back on (and my brother have to do the same), just so we can see and invite eachother in a wing? If what you're saying is true, we're most definetly tested this out, since I was waiting for him to get from Maridal to LHS 3006, then we both descided to meet in Aluin, when we couldn't see eachothers ships or wing invites.

Do you even read what I was typing?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but of course I know how to add people as friends as well as create and invite in my private group. He's in my friendlist, he pops up on top right pannel as a friend, showing his avatar and location he is in atm, I can see him on the galaxy map as a green icon - the issue here is that I can't see him online, in the instance, we can't see eachothers wing invites, they're just getting sent and nothing happens, nothing pops up on the other end.

Much obliged, but I've managed to find a somewhat strange fix to this - I just invite someone else in a wing first (some random commander or another friend), after that we can see eachother invites and appear in instances correctly, even if the initial "conductor" leaves the wing.
