Xbox controller not working properly in VR

So using an xbox controller in non VR I found that the best setup for me was having pitch and roll on RS and vertical and lateral thrusters on LS.

The problem is when I use the Oculus Rift the RS doesnt work...
Tested it out if it was my controller, but again in the non VR version it works perfectly.
Is this a known issue and what can I do about it? (Not buying an expensive af HOTAS for a game I only started playing)

Try to uncheck the game pad support in Steam controller config. The Steam often causes E:D controller problems, when the game pad support is turned "on".
