Voice commands
Everywhere I go it says there is a manual that you receive when buying a voice pack. I have the Archer voice dlc. Where are the manuals? How do you use it? Does it take hours to set up or is it already ready? Every video on Youtube is outdated, they even have it in their title.

Ingame COVAS voices are just replacement voices for the ingame ship voices.

to use voice commands, those are done using 3rd party programs. Not anywhere ingame they tell you that Voice commanding ship is included in base game.

I read the comment. My question is whether the voice commands have voice lines that will only trigger when used with voice attack, as opposed to being available for use in the game I bought it in.

No, COVAS voices are replacements for the ingame voices, like it reads in their specifications.

Theyre not used with Voice Attack. Voice attack and Voice packs for that program are completely different 3rd party products.

You mean Voice Attack?

Thats an 3rd party program. If you mean controlling the ship with voice commands its Voice Attack or some other comparable 3rd party program.

Those voice packs you buy in game are just LIVERY options to change the ship AI voice to another. Otherwise it works the same as any other basic voice in the ship.

To control a ship with voice commands you need to buy Voice attack, and also buy a sound package someone has made for it.

Are you telling me I need to use third party software to do anything useful with the voice I just bought in-game? Where was this stated?

No, you can enable the bought voice from LIVERY options in stations for every ship.

But theyre just ingame Voice Assistant changers. Those videos youve looked in the internet, where someone commands a ship using microphone, are done with Voice Attack, a 3rd party program. its not affiliated with Elite Dangerous.

I recommend you read the Specifications of things you buy.

"Product Information
COVAS or Cockpit Voice Assistants change the voice of the computer of your current ship.

COVAS purchases will work for both Elite Dangerous and Horizons players.

Purchasing a COVAS via the Frontier Store allows you to apply it to your ship in-game via any Starport Services with a Livery section.

When docked in your ship, bring up the Starport Services Menu. Navigate to the Livery menu, and select the"Vessel Voice" tab/filter.

• This item can be used with any ship you currently own.
• It does NOT alter the performance parameters of your Ship in any way.
• If your ship is destroyed you may re-apply any owned COVAS you wish to use."

I see. But the voices seemed to react to every command. Are they somehow integrated together, I mean did they make the voice pack to respond to all of these commands but not include the software for giving the commands.

You probably bought not what you thought you was buying. Voice DLCs are not for voice controlling of your ship. They are to change your ship's computer voice to a different one.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Indeed, the first result I get when searching for how the voices sound like is a video showing someone using voice commands for them.

Just buy Voice Attack and ASTRA AI Female. She is much better than the lame in game voice. I cannot play this game without VA since it allows me to get rid of about 75% of the keybinds and rebdind my Steam Controller for full 6 degrees movement, headlook, and analaogue engines.

If I had to bind stuff like landing gear and night vision it would be impossible.
