Owning stations
Is this a thing? If not I’d love it to be. Imagine late-game managing a little station somewhere, fighting off pirates trying to take over and/or hiring other players/npcs to help expand or grow a small faction

Umm you can own stations in this game. My squadron owns several stations and we are currently exerting influence on other systems to grow. Its part of the power play mechanic and you have to apply to FDEV to get your base.

Not a thing, might not ever be

No, I suggest you delete this thread and run to X4 as fast as you can for large scale management.

Otherwise, prepare for the hunters, ocean going mammals, and aunts that are about to open a can of whup ass on your argument.

I wasn't making an argument, I just said I think it would be cool, which isn't something you can argue lol.

Yes, we will: it's a different kind of a game. You want a resources management game and this one is a space ship pilot game.

If you want to build bases, you can play Empyrion right now, no need to wait.

:D

Anyway OP, probably not, at least not for a long time. However, fleet carriers are hopefully coming in the next major patch, which will be a mobile base for squadrons. Details are very thin on the ground at the moment though how they will work.

id accept this if they were destroyable and only in open mode..... jk

Cool, thank's for everyone's input!

All I would change, is instead of a single player owning the station I would make it a Player Owned Faction. That way it can bolt straight onto existing mechanics and concepts.

It's a great idea and I'd love to see it implimented some day.

Should be a thing. But either Frontier is not confident in having the resources to give players more actual influence over the game universe or they're just scared of the concept altogether and will defiantly cling to the theme park mmo approach in spite of how barren and soulless the galaxy feels because of it.

Maybe the better solution to it all would have been if FD had never made it a multiplayer game in the first place. That way they could have focused on single player features and we would never had any of these discussions about MMO features that people feel the game must have or be empty without, and it certainly would have meant no arguments over modes or PvP etc.

True. But it probably would've had less kerb appeal and may've needed a smaller budget.

Multiplayer games always have added mass appeal. Especially to investors and kickstarter players. I often wish Elite was SP and Moddable, since I rarely actually see anybody.

Only reason I bought this game was multiplayer with my brothers :P this game would be worthless without online
