Plasma Accelerator
Is a Size 4 PA any good? Because I like the Idea of it, but the DPS always kinda kept me from buying one...

You need to aim well. When you master it,its ultimate weapon in ED.And about dps...its like a hit by a train powerfull and with style.

It's not that good. Mostly useful for punching through engineered shields in PVP. But you can just use a Trident fighter on a Krait to do that now.

Plasma ACs are tricky weapons, they're great if you can use them well, and devastating in PVP. But. They're slow to fire, hard to aim and totally reliant on you to put rounds on target. They're also big, heavy, chew through ammo quickly and throw a lot of heat.

PAs are absoloute damage arent they? So great for dealing with things with resistances.

Thats right!New CZ now have npcs with high resistance in defence...near like human pvp ship builds...and here PA do a lot of damage.Npcs are using prismatic shields now.

PAs are pure evil if you can aim them correctly and get good with them. My FDL runs 3 plasmas and 2 rails all super engineered to around grade 4 or 5. They are deadly. Rails are the easiest to fire b/c they charge up and then fire and you can time it really well. Even on moving targets rails are pretty simple to get good hits with. For plasmas you will want to aim above your target a bit b/c no matter what you do or where the 'dots' are that tell you where they are pointing they always seem to fire a bit low. Probably b/c I'm usually firing them inside of a pitch turn.

But for plasmas get close and fire and then boost out and come back and do the same. They do so much damage that most ships won't be able to recover shields in time for you to line up another shot. 3 Plasmas are enough to destroy almost any level NPC Conda. The rails are needed b/c it is very hard to hit small fighters with plasma so you use the rails when they are dancing around and the plasmas when they want to try to out tank you. The NPCs are very stupid and will just sit there and try to out tank you when you are cramming plasma down their throats. They die fast.

For an example one good shot from my rails can almost one shot stock shields on most smaller ships. One direct hit from all my plasmas can usually one shot the hull or nearly one shot it of most smaller stock ships.

But for PVE rapir fire pulse with scramble or phasing sequence is a must have. My mining Python use to have 3 of these but due to the mining loadout it can only have one. But even with the one I can still destroy most NPC pirates up to around Deadly rank where it tends to get more difficult. I will probably fit two now that I know the sub surface missile thingy isn't needed to mine the good stuff.

Quite satisfying when you nail one with PAs though :bandit:
