How to use frame shift drive.

I am a total noob, forgive me. I am getting really frustated on how to use this thing. I have a destination set. I enable frame shift drive. I have throttle at full. I am aligned. BUT MY SHIP DOESN'T JUMP! It bounces back and fourth between two messages: align ship with destination and engage throttle. I have done both but no jump. Also, I have gotten it to jump before, but I have no idea what I have done, so I can't repeat it. When I did make it to jump though, I had no idea how to slow the ship down. I just overshoot the target and the ship lady yells at me. And then I tried it again but my supercruise speed is stuck at 30km/s and my throttle does nothing to change the speed.

I am a complete noob at this game, don't know any of the technical control names and can't find any help on youtube or reddit. Please go easy on explaining this to me

I just assume you were starting from a planet that might have some gravity pulling you down. In this case simply allign target and use your booster.
Or you might have accidently set flight assist off - in that case turn flight assist on and your ship will allign trajectory / destination automatically. (This should cause the message adjust trajectory)
Also keep an eye on the mass lock --> you find it on the bottom right together with cargo scoop and landing gear - all the must be off to jump.

Also be sure, that your ship moving. Im pushing TAB before jump.

Is your destination obscured? You can have just a single button bound or two. One will jump you to another system, one will take your to supercruise. But if you have both set to the same button and another system selected it will presume you want to jump, and if your target is behind a planet or something, then it won't jump (you can't jump through large masses).

If you are flying to a target in SC, keep at full throttle until the timer gets to 0:07 (you can do this at 0:06 as well but you need to be a bit more careful). Once at 0:07 throttle down to about the middle of the blue zone, you want to see a stable 0:07. This will get you to your target without overshooting. Once within range you get a message that its safe to drop. Usually at 1Mm, but if there are no large masses nearby this can be bigger.

No idea why your throttle is stuck at 30 km/s, that would normally only happen if you are close to a large mass that is affecting the operation of your FSD.

Can you upload a video? We could perhaps give you better pointers.

"stuck at 30km/s" ... hmm, maybe you have not set throttle at all. It is possible to fly a ship having set forward thrust and back thrust. But thrust will do nothing in supercruise and could also cause your issues.
Please check your control bindings. Look into Flight Throttle and set the correct joystick axis here - if you use KB/M you can set increase and decrease throttle.

I am able to move the ship forwards and backwards outside of super cruise, but I can't use thrust in supercruise. I thought that they were the same keybindings, but I guess I will need to check my bindings and try again.

Select a desination (other solar system)

If it's not obstructed, press J.

If it is obstructed, unlock the destination in your naviation pannel, press J, and move somewhere else within the system, then try again.

Once you're about to jump, simply throutle up.
If you booth you'll generate a lot of extra heat and hurt yourself.
