Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Proto Radiolic Alloys
I need the above mentioned to finish the engineering upgrades on the sensors I have on my ship. I only need a few more. I used the filters Boom / Independent & found only ONE high grade emissions. I looked in a bunch of places. No luck so I switch to War / Independent filters. No luck there, either. Could somebody please give me a hint on this. I really can't move forward until I get this resolved. NOT easy at all. -Thanks-

I think this high grade materials are easy to get them from mission rewards.
Missions usually offer 4-5 pieces.
Or if you farming High grade emissions and you get different Tier 5 material you can trade it. Trading ratio T5 for T5 is not very good usualy give 3 T5 to get one T5 but if you need only few its not that bad.

EDIT: You can trade T4 Proto light alloys
give 6 and get 1 T5 Proto Radiolic Alloys, thats not bad at all ... well at least for me i have over 100 of those T4.

I'm having the same issue. I found a bug raised in the frontier forums here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/465883-High-Grade-Emision-in-boom-state-not-spawn-Proto-Light-Alloys-and-Proto-Radiolic-Alloys

It's worth adding a comment on there too so the devs can see.

Anacondas can and do drop these in systems with the right State. You may need to kill a few before they drop, but they're definitely out there.

Change lower materials at Manufactured Material Traders .

Or change an easy-to-get high-tier material.

Anacondas in Haz and Hi RES have a habit of dropping Radiolic Alloys and Exquisite Focus Crystals. Not all of them, but 3 out of 5 will. I don't know if the system state has anything to do with it.

Yeah, looks like the only option currently is to get 600 Proto Heat Radiators (or something similar) and exchange them for 100 Proto Radiolic Alloys. Then again with a slightly better exchange rate (but still terrible) for Proto Light alloys. Surely there's a better way?

I can't seem to find anything except Proto Heat Radiators in boom systems for Independent and Alliance. Fed system in boom give Core Dynamics Composites and Proprietary Composites. I'm targeting high population systems as well.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions. Cheers

Same problem here, spend two days looking for them and similar materials in high grade signal sources, mostly in high tech boom state systems ... found "just one" ... its so infuriating and a total waste of life time...this is not what i bought elite dangerous for -,-

The situations rubbish. I was planning to get engineering done and go away for distant worlds 2, but with so little progress being made, I'm feeling like I'm nearing the end of Elite for me.

I've invested 4650 hours into Elite since 2014 so I've kept telling myself that the devs will make x,y & z better - CQC anyone???

Being honest, a lot of their mistakes aren't being sorted out and the devs simply ignore us... but CLAIM on their livestreams that they're looking at the forums and reddit. Well, if that was the case then surely this wouldn't be happening, yet again, after 4 years? I feel so frustrated. sorry for the negative comment but it's just how I feel.

It's all about what faction "owns" that signal source and the state of said faction.
It's all faction based now and NOT system based.
System state really doesn't matter any more, population still seems to play a big role.

You can switch mode to force a fresh spawn if your current pool of signals isn't what you are after.

After you've found your first HGE which contained what you are after, don't go to the next signal/system instead relog (don't change mode) hit super cruise and re-target the same signal and there you go maxed out grade 5 manufactured materials of the type of your choice.

However; if the material you are after is from famine/outbreak then yeah, side grade trading radiolics/core dynamics/imperial shielding seems to be the way to go -atleast until the faction states starts to return to "normal" after the 3.3 reset.

As for the OP; Proto Radiolic Alloys - you want an anarchy system with as few major factions as possible (fed/imp/alliance) and as many independant factions in boom as possible.... atleast in theory. I personally stocked up in Sirius for both radiolics & heat eventhough the chances for that was slim, so look around and farm those HGEs eventhough it's the "wrong" stuff, you can always trade them.
And if you stock up quickly enough with the "wrong" stuff you can hit the broker to trade that for the "right" stuff. Just like Crashed Condas / Jamesons Cobra. In the end you get what you want faster than spending hours looking at random places.
Ofc with that said, yes go for the jackpot but don't waste too much time, no idea when Fdev will fix the relogging farm but until then, that's the best bet.

They don't actually have to be in Boom state. Just that it's an HGE and it's not Fed or Imperial

Thank you for the advice. I've linked this thread to the Frontier forums here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/465627-High-Grade-Emissions?p=7323261#post7323261 (the thread I mentioned a few hours ago)
