where to find the Pirates !?
Hi everyone,

Back on the game after a 5years break, and super happy to find all sort of new things. But beside this, I discovered contracts where you have to kill X amount of pirates. Good opportunity to try my fancy new vulture.

Profitable, fun and PVE which is all I love but damn, IT IS SO FREAKING LONG !

It took me 3hours in the system to find 21 pirates...
I joined a High Intensity combat zone and lucky me one of the side was the pirate I needed to hunt (exact same name), so I choose the opposite faction and it does not count for the contract....

Is it stupidly designed or am I missing something ?

Combat Zones are military zones. There are no pirates in there.

You can either pull the pirates out of supercruise one by one, or you can go to one of Resources Extraction Sites (RES), or to a lesser extent - to a Nav. Beacon. You will get a lot of pirates to choose from there.

Make sure that they are marked as "Mission Target". And hope that the "bug", that doesn't count those targets towards your goal, wouldn't "bite" you.

Thanks, I was reading before posting and the posts were from 2017, I was hoping for improvements but it seems unlikely :D

Thanks again for the time !

pick up a few higher level fetch or delivery missions and load up with mission cargo.

I get something on the order of 4-8 interdictions per run taking cargo between 2 stations in the same system. Sometimes I get interdicted while in the middle of another interdiction. I have pirates jumping in and attacking me while I'm fighting other pirates...and they're all elite Anacondas and FDL's.

Yeah. Gone those good old times, when another pirate would jump into your fight, and will begin to attack that first pirate instead of joining him in attacking you...

There seemed to be no end of pirates in almost every system I travelled to this afternoon. I wasn't even carrying anything and I was constantly being interdicted by NPCs. If they were after my valuable haul, they were a little too late. I already sold it.

Dont know if this was said, but scan the Nav Beacon, it will give you a planet to circle around for a bit then a mission instance will pop up. You could try that or if you have a discovery scanner that can work too if you dont want to drop from SC

This is how I ended up getting Elite in combat first even though I'm hauling cargo.

yeah you can stack 20 missions, just have 1 unit of cargo from each mission and you should be able to get 80 mission-spawned interdictions and a few random ones on top of that.

Wow, I never even knew it was possible to be interdicted while being interdicted. That's ridiculous.

I lost my first interdiction today. Was interdicted while FSD was charging to jump from supercruise to another system. BAM! Interdiction! Had it aligned perfectly with the escape vector, then got the message "Align with target." So i thought "That's my way out of this."

Nope.

Just meant I lost to the pirate.

Insructional messages shouldn't be appearing like that if following them means a rebuy.

If I take any cargo mission and go to the system where I have to kill the pirate, will it work to use the cargo missio as a bait even tho it's not the related in any way ?

No, you should stay in the star system where these particular pirates are counted for mission targets. In other star systems there are pirates of other local factions.

Sorry I might have misexplained.

Let's say I need to kill pirates from Potriti system. If I take a shipping mission where I need to deliver 10 goods to Eravate. If I go to Potriti with the 10 goods, will it bait Potriti's pirate to hijack me ?

Beside, just want to share a tip for pirate hunting I found. From experience I missed many pirates because my ship was to low to reach C speed and they were already at like 5c.
I found out that if you reach the C speed then go back down to 30km/s, it will be much faster to enter again C speed so chasing will be way easier.

So after a kill, I go back to Supercruise, reach C Speed, then go back down to waiting for a pirate.

Your supercruise speed goes up pretty fast. How much up it goes depends on how far you are from a source of mass around you.
