RIP
I mean, sure, the Rat will need to be near you to help, but while they're on their way, you could power down all non vital functions and go into stasis or something, to justify on a RP point of view being offline, if need be.
If your life support kicks in - keep calm. You can always synthesize more air, if you only have 2 iron and 1 nickel. It's extremely easy to find or cheap to exchange. Always have some of those mats to do the emergency synthesis.
Yeah I learned that after wasting a good chunk of oxygen lol. I was just shocked at the moment and didn't really think it all through.
The life support warning really caught me off guard.
If you haven't already, then try to get an A-rated Life Support module to match whatever class rating it is in. So if it's Class 4 or 5, then get 4A or 5A.
If you have been watching youtube guides, you'll probably have noticed many of them say to D-rate your life support to decrease weight and in turn increase jump range, but don't follow that advice. At least until you feel comfortable in your trading routes or whatever you are doing.
I think the A-rated life support module can be engineered to lower the weight of it, although i'm not sure about that but hopefully someone here will know for sure.
If it can be engineered to be lighter, I'd certainly do that.
Things i have picked up along the way from asking questions, is ALWAYS buy a Fuel Scoop, even if it's the lowest class and D-rated fuel scoop, since any fuel you can get is life saving, as you now know. Oh and when you are scooping a star, watch the meter (yellow bar and % numbers) when it stops going up, you are scooping at the fuel scoops maximum rate and then try to stay that close and no closer.
What i try to do when fuel scooping, is use a part of my cockpit, like the frame of the window, to use as a guide for how close i should be as i orbit the star. Doing this, i can scoop while staying at around 62% Heat.
Also you can alter your settings via the Galaxy Map to always plot routes through systems which have "scoopable stars" which is very handy indeed.
Thanks for the heads up! my life support is way better now, and now i have a fuel scoop too so I'm on my learning.
If you have any tips on money making and ship upgrades feel free to shoot me a message
So is D-rated, to lower the weight even further.
