I found a bunch of occupied escape pods, what do I do, Kill them?
Do I shoot them and put them out of their misery, leave them, or take them to a station and get huge money?

Would have too get 10 million for each to make iit worthwhile, I am not into the whole humanitarian thing.

Occupied escape pods are worth a bit of money, but not millions unless you have quite a few.

I always grab 'em and sell 'em just for that little bit of money.

Not worth the time, I am just picking up mats.

What, you are leaving them to die in misery b/c there's no profit$$$ to be made??

You can offer them to Thargoids and watch a fish feeding frenzy :steammocking:
you can rescue the guy at "bug killer" crashed conda, i always leave him there :tgrin:
They're rare. I personally would help them out of humanitarian reasons, if I could fit them (The one time I encountered them, I jettison'd some tobacco). Unless you're carrying some really good cargo, chances are, they're more valuable to pick up, and worth the time.

But it's up to you if you would prefer to not roleplay, and treat them as expendable NPCs.

Occupied escape pods are cryo-pods. The occupant is frozen, so you can leave them be with no moral or psychological impact, I guess. The occupant won't die unless the pod is destroyed. But I always like to grab them if I see them.

Deliver them to the nearest Thargoid.

One question - why are some pods tagged as stolen and others not?
I mean I'm trying to do good here and save a bunch of guys but when the cargo shows up as illicit they go back to space.

I'm not taking any chance of being scanned in my slow bulky cutter...

They are classified as human cargo and thereby technically illegal in some juristictions. It varies from system to system. If they are illegal in one system, just go somewhere else to drop them off. Or, a black market will take them for higher price than SAR in these illicit systems. The occupants may end up as slaves though. Just depends on your moral standpoint. It's pretend people in a pretend space game.

Yeah... I'm sorry.

Listen, here's what happened. I panicked. I had a haul of slaves and 300 metric tonnes of cocaine. Well, 299 tonnes. The slaves and I celebrated a little 'freedom' on the way to Laksak (it's a long trip!) and upon arriving there we got interdicted by the 5-0, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fuzz.

Oh, I escaped...the first time. Let's just say your decision making skills aren't the best when wired to the eyes with 12 lines of the finest Imperial blow, so you tend to make foolish decisions like refusing to high wake out the system, submitting to four interdictions and escaping....cutting open your slaves and hiding the cocaine inside them, jettisoning them into space.

So you see, the inhabitants of the pod aren't the illicit cargo. My cocaine is. Just happens to be inside them, that's all. Now that you've found it however....

Wait. So why can't you pick them up?

You are collecitng with limpets I presume? So therefore you have cargo space? You surely are going to return to a station at some point right? Just drop them off then. I mean, if you are doing shipping or in a combat ship with no space, fair point.

I was picking up very importatant mats on a planet so I could finally take my thrusters to G5 dirty drives.

This game is a grind fest, and I was finally this close { } to fianally having G5 dirty drives when all of a sudden:

"What are these things, they are not canisters, oh my word, they are occupied pods."

"Let me see what they are worth..."

"Crap! They aren't worth hardly anything, certainly not worth the time to take them any where for chicken scratch third world country wages."

"I'm going to collect a few more mats and go engineer my thrusters."
