You need to be IN supercruise already to use it.
In Supercruise, set your throtlle to 0 (so that you come to a dead stop) then go to the nav panel (the left hand panel) and highlight the station. instead of just locking on the target station there should be a button that says supercruise assist (it's the SECOND button from the left on the nav panel) click this and you should get a message on screen telling you to align your ship to the target station, when you do this, your ship will automatically set your throttle to the blue zone and fly to the station, it will also automatically drop your ship back into normal space approx. 8-8.5lm from the station
Thank you kind sir but my ship is out of fuel now so im stranded in space and im out of patience for tonight. I might give another try tomorrow. I really just want to know why I cant catch this station though and why sometimes in certain systems it seems to jump ok than others I have difficulty and the game says I dont have a target locked.
It will come. it took me about 4 hours just to get the basics of the game and that was when there were no new starter zones and the tutorials were REALLY terrible (they HAVE improved a lot, i promise you)
For regular stations you can land at, a reboot will usually fix it. There are some non-landable installations and temporary POIs like Combat Zones which "run away from you" and it's not solvable; you simply learn to ignore those ones.
Can the Fuel Rats even help here ? Mawson dock is in one of the starter systems, you can't enter them after you've left. So unless the Rats keep a newbie account at hand with a fuel-rigged Cobra or something, they probbaly can't help :/
1. Set buttons for speed 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0% ( I use 10,9,8,7,6)
2. when approaching a station. AT SEVEN SECONDS IMMEDIATELY GO TO 75%.
you may slow a bit and your time increases becuase you are going slower and have to recalculate time, also as you get closer to big bodies, gravitational forces will cause "resitance" and make you go slower.
Yep. I found an old post saying this was an issue back in the day and they even mentioned the same station that it was happening to me with. Started with M in one of the first few systems.
It was driving me batty lol... Every jump would keep me about 14 km from the station sometimes I could get into about 11 but there was no way to catch up to it from there with the throttle full. At full throttle in about 2 minutes I would see the distance get farther by about 10-20 km. It was very confusing.
Thankfully I had about 0.1% fuel like literally a sliver of a bar left and when I relogged I was ablew to jump and fly into it to refuel no problem but thank you for the idea.
Also if you run out of fuel, you can turn off all your modules to save fuel. You can often craft extra oxygen, if you keep the chemicals stocked.
