If you want to avoid any jump-surprises make sure to check the star you are jumping to - it will tell you on the top right what star it is.
Neutron stars are a little different, with an active scoop, you CAN enter the tail, closer to the outsides is best as too close to the middle is often fatal, once inside, your FSD will supercharge (you'll get a notification) then just throttle out.
Be prepared to jump 300% extra (so for example, 50ly = 200ly) I've done many 311ly jumps... Be warned though, that you'll want an AFMU. Your FSD suffers approximately 1% with each supercharge... and under 80% it will suffer malfunctions. Not further harmful, but your attempt to jump fails to begin.
If you wish to practice, the nearest neutron star is Jackson's Lighthouse... practice there and master it before going into the black.
Neutron Stars on the other hand, are incredibly dangerous. They're tiny in terms of actual volume diameter, which means your FSD will drop you in extremely close to the exclusion zone, and the Neutron Jets can pull you in and trap you in a death spiral.
Neutron star: fly into the ejection cone and drop out of supercruise. Enjoy the light show.

1.remain calm, shut down your shields and any auxillary systems not entirely needed. throttle engines to zero,
2.begin the next jump. or quickly reroute to another system if your destination is obscured.
and then boost towards ur jump when u reach full charge.
3. the smaller ur ship is the more it gets bounced around my the magnetic and gravitational eddies.
this is from a post i read somewhere, a while ago. i cant confirm whether it works or not since the first time i fell into a neutron star was the last time i fell into a neutron. needless to say i did not survive
