JUST DO IT!!
Don´t give up. Make a stop when you bored and flying arount the system. Land on a planet, fly to a Station. DISCOVER!!! The way is the finish.
or you can play on your handy. But don´t give up!!
Still, it'd feel like a waste if I made it halfway and stopped there, so I do really wanna keep going! But I think Beagle Point is out of the question, haha.
Whats your ship and configuration? ED +Horizon is on sale right now.... so i really do recommend to get it.
I'm flying an Asp Explorer with all D modules, aside from the FSD, which is A rank. My jump range is about 35.6 LY so that's not too bad, I think. Brought an overly expensive Fuel scoop and an AFM unit, as well as an Advanced Discovery Scanner and Detailed Surface Scanner.
Finish your trip to Sag A* if it is not too boring already. Maybe use neutron boost to reduce your total jumps but beware.... while it is not too hard to charge your FSD you can do it wrong and die. Check some youtube videos on "how to supercharge FSD" before attempting to do it yourself. Also keep an eye on its condition: Repair at ~80% or earlier. Do not waste AFMU for anything else.
The expensive fuelscoop is no wasted money, you'll get the full price back whenever you decide to sell it, no credit loss.
Fly safe... or don't :-)
Saying that without an afmu its risky buisness as it will gradually ware down the fsd.
Just in case you weren't aware of it.
Whether or not you should turn around? I think you have to ask yourself "why am I doing this?" If you're doing it just to reach sgr a*, then there isn't much you can do about the monotony and it'll only get worse. If you're actually trying to explore, then generally you should be looking around any given system at celestial body stats or visual features and keeping yourself occupied that way. Really, only you can answer that question.
Oh Horizons adds to the game, its just not worth the full price.
Remember you are out there exploring not just trying to make a speed run from A to B.
Get out of the ship for a bit and trash the SRV.
Do some flight assist off drifting in some asteroids too.
Talk about your journey here with us each day will make it much easier.
I hope to see updates from you.
But if you set the goal and quit it might drive you crazy, but after all, it is just a game, so you do not have to spend many mnay hours just doing the same thing over and over just to get there and see almost the same thing you saw in the very first system you started the trip in, except maybe more stars.
I used to fancy going to these places and watched a few you tube videos and saw the results when they got there.
I figured they were so much like the system I called home it would be rather stupid (FOR ME) to make hundreds, or over a thousand jumps to see basically what I've already seen around home.
Save for a few nebulas, etc...
Black holes in ED are very meh.
