Planetary scans SRV
Hi. So I'm trying to do a planetary scan in an SRV. I've found the planet, the base, and landed, driven the SRV to the datapoint, but I can't figure out how to scan the data.

The tower comes out, and says active and public, but I'm not getting any mission updates. It still wants me to scan the tower.

I've checked my keybindings and fiddled around with it, trying to use the datalink scanner, but I can't get it to work. I've watched a video on youtube of someone doing it, but I can't figure out how to complete this mission.

Any help? Thanks.

Are you pointed directly at it? Do it in turret mode to be sure.

Did you lock on to the data point and hold down the button for the scanner? It takes a few seconds but makes an audible noise to let you know.

Yes. I've locked on to the target, and held the button down. Nothing. Even tried changing the key bindings. I'm holding the secondary fire button which is set to "2" in my fire grouping.

So my data scanner works. I can scan my ship, and an NPC ship with it. I just can't scan the data tower at the base.

Are you pointed directly at it? Do it in turret mode to be sure.

Okay. I figured it out for anyone else confused. I had to be in turret mode to complete the scan on the tower for some reason, eventhough I can scan other things perfectly fine while not in turret mode. Not very obvious.

Hey thanks. Doing it in turret mode worked.

Not for me for some reason. Can only get it to work in turret mode.

it has to be inside your HUD to work.

I tried it from a few different angles. Maybe it wasn't lined up perfectly and that was the reason. I had no problem scanning ships. I'll try it again next time. But it's easy to do in turret mode.
