Aresenic without visiting planets?
I really dont like driving SRV's, but im gonna need some arsenic soon. Im getting conflicting information off the web though.

Most of the guides say go to this or that planet to find it, yet the wiki lists it as something that can drop from mining asteroids.

So can it actually drop at steroids or not?

Can i get other mats to trade for it from asteroids instead?

Has anyone got a screenshot of the mat trader screen (with some of all the mats and arsenic selected) so i can have a refference of what can be traded for it?

Some resources are available from mining, but I can't recall if Arsenic is one of them I'm afraid.

Maybe more up to your thing, if you can get a small ship with the cockpit and the scoop on the front side of it (i use a CM4 for this) you can surface scoop, its a lot of fun.

Just need to shoot something on the surface, fly really close to it so you can target it, then you can scoop it like any normal item.

This way you can get surface materials without having to SRV them.

You can get iron and some other mats from asteroids mining, and exchange it for arsenic. But you wouldn't like the exchange rate.

It's much faster to get some technetium in an SRV on planets, and exchange that instead.

Thanks for the replies, il have a look, i get iron a lot of the time so might have a bit of a stockpile now.

Il aslo try this surface scooping in a ship aswell :)

EDDB has the ability to point you to the nearest planetary source. Just enter the name of the system you are currently in & nominate the material you are searching for and press 'find bodies'. Click at the top of the column marked 'po' to find the bodies with the highest percentage available. Done & dusted. Fly safe Cmdr. o7

or wait a few weeks for the update to probe planets for mining sites and land there to farm what you need :)

That sounds cool, im trying not to use EDDB or inara as much as poss so im not tabbing all the time. Is there an ingame mechanic to check planets for arsenic atm?

Woot, had plenty of iron and sulpher both were 36>1 so did 2 trades on each for 4 arsenic. Then i had 30 manganese at 6>1 so did 3 of those.

7 arsenic no planets :D

Carbon aswell, drops allllll the time at asteroids, 36>1 tade:)

Yes, there is. Open a local star system map, point at landable planets one by one, check the information screen on what they carry (they have to be discovered). You may need to scroll down a little.

I always look for my mats that way, no external sources are needed.

Nope, arsenic cannot be got from mining in rings.

If you want arsenic, it's either planetary mining on SRV or raw material trader exchange.

If you don't like mining on planetary surfaces, though, you can pretty much kiss engineer upgrades goodbye, since many require raw materials which can only be consistently obtained on planetary surfaces.

Useful planetary materials (for engineer upgrades):
-Phosphorus
-Sulphur
-Nickel
-Manganese
-Arsenic
-Selenium
-Cadmium
-Vanadium
-Zirconium
-Molybdenum
-Technetium
...

Volcanism tourist beacons. For arsenic specifically, go to Boston's Wreck in Exioce. Two tourist beacons, shoot needle crystals, collect polonium, trade down for large quantities of arsenic (if memory servers, Ray Gateway in Diaguandri is the nearest raw mats trader).

Some barnacle sites have arsenic. It's rare though. You might have to reset between none and ten times.
