How to get rid of Anonymity Protocols?
EDIT: THIS IS A NECRO DONT REPLY

After a one year hiatus from E:D, I was busy setting up my Vive and new HCS Voicepack and somehow managed to enable Anonymity Protocols, either by needing to abandon a mission, loitering at a landing pad, or perhaps accidentally ramming something while leaving a station.

From what I read I need to go to a system which offers so called "Interstellar factors" and pay someone. I went to such a system - which I found by using the "Interstellar factors" factors in the Galaxy map, but upon docking at a station I am unable to find the relevant entry under "Contact" in the Starport Services. I have visited three different stations in said system but still can't find it.

How do I go about finding a station where I can pay off the fine/ bounty? Am I looking in the wrong place? Notoriety is 0 btw.

yes. pay your fines or bounty. I think you can also buy another ship. The fines/bounties are attached to your ship, not you.

Ok, that is good news. I was planning on using my ASP for a while anyways.

However - HOW do I get rid of that bounty fine thingy? I can't seem to find the relevant contact in the "Interstellar factors" system I went to in order to pay it off.

I think they are usually available in low security systems.

Right. And I am in such a system, ie, green marked "Interstellar factors" star system. And yet there is nothing available under "Contacts" in the Starport Services menu to pay it off.

if you have notoriety > 0 you can't pay it off

As mentioned in my OP, notoriety is 0.

Make sure you're at the right station. IIRC not all stations/outposts in a system is guaranteed to have it. Look at the station info in the System Map.

Makes sense and thank you. Any idea what I am looking for in the station info?

There's a section that lists out station services, it will say 'Interstellar Factors'. :)

Ok, perfect! I will look into that after work today and post back here.

First of all, figure out whether it is a bounty or a fine. A fine can be paid at the station you got it (or any station where your anonymity protocols are active), and you are done. As far as I know, a bounty can be paid that way as well, but you will be brought to a penitentiary system when you do - so better check that one is nearby or prepare for a long flight back.
If you have a bounty and dont want to turn yourself in, find a station with an interstellar factor. There is usually only one station that has it in one system. However the IF will charge more to clear your bounty.

Keep in mind that most Interstellar Factors are in orbital platforms (no large pads), so if it's a large ship you have a bounty on, you may have to find a station that houses the faction you have a fine/bounty from to pay it off.

If you try a station with the faction that issued the bounty they will arrest you and send you off to a detention facility some 200 lys away,
The whole option to turn yourself in they talked about is no option at all, that's the only choice they give you unless you use an itersteler factors.

There are a ton of planet-based IF's that will accept large ships.

Nah, you just request anonymous docking. Then get in without being scanned.

Easy in a small ship. Not quite as easy in a big ship though, but since its usually low sec you want to do this in, there often isn't any (or many) security ships around to scan you.

Outposts are of course best, since unless they are military they don't have security.
