Guardian FSD boost worth the effort?
I've not yet looked into this, but read snippets here and there in these forums.

To those who have the guardian fsd boost already - is it worth the effort?

I have grade 5 increased fsd range engineered by Granny Farseer already so have a nice jump range, but haven't done anything guardian wise yet. This seems like a decent place to test the water so to speak with the guardian stuff. I'd only really be interested in the big boost - 10 ly I think it is.

So, is it worth the effort? And is it a big effort to get it? I can (and will) yt vids for exact details myself, but am primarily interested in opinions and experiences of pilots first.

Agree. Even ships like a pve Vette can get over 30lyrs jump range with one.

It's the only module worth getting, in my opinion, especially if you've already got a heavily engineered ship.

It takes the least effort to get too, only needing to do the puzzle one time. The other modules i've read are basically the equivalent of a rank with a grade 3 enhancement with no experimental effect. but i could be wrong on that one.

once unlocked you can have all sizes of it all the time as many as you want

Yes, the FSD booster is the best of the bunch, the core module ones are pretty pointless, but some of the others are good too.

The module reinforcements are ok as they offer more integrity than standard ones that can't be engineered (yet).

The shield reinforcement package is pretty good as well, particularly on small ships and ships like the Type 10 that have weak shielding even with the highest grade fitted. It offers a straight boost to megajoules without affecting recharge rate. I used to use mainly resistance augmented boosters with maybe one or two HD boosters, now I don't need the HD boosters on my normal combat ships at all (For Goid hunting, you want all HD boosters).

Obviously the weapons and fighters are useful if you hunt Goids, more so the weapons.

Yes, absolutely.

Also by 'effort' you mean literally about 2 hour work... fly somewhere, scan and shoot a few things and fly back. I call that fun.

FSD booster is definitely worth it, but if you're already out there, you might as well get enough materials for other things.

FSD booster, Trident and Shield Reinforcement if you have no interest in thargoids.

Gauss Cannon (Medium) and Module reinforcement if you want to ever fight interceptors.

XG9 Lance and Shard Cannons if you want to fight scouts.

XG8 Javelin if you like having multicrew members.

Absolutely.

I'm in the process of unlocking these too. IMO the most useful guardian stuff:

FSD Booster - good on nearly every ship

Power Distributor - roughly equivalent to a grade 4 charge enhanced. It's a easier alternative to engineering and works good on a lot of ships. (I think it shines on mining ships because it lets you power more mining laser)

Power Plant - huge capacity, great for ships that are power hungry like the Chieftan.

Shield Reinforcement - lets you shield tank better. Especially good on small ships.

XG7 - fast, agile, strong shields, and the gun is basically a multicannon that does absolute damage. It is equally good against both thargoid and human ships.

Gauss Cannons - only good if you want to fight thargoids. Cannonn's website has anti-thargoid builds and they recommend these on every build.

I think the underrated aspect of guardian internal modules is that while human-engineered mods are normally more powerful, the guardian mods are often superior to unengineered, and you could get essentially lightly engineered equipment without needing to waste material.
Yep, definitely worth it! When you lightweight-engineer to squeeze every extra light year from your ship, it gives a clean +10Ly boost to it*. It basically can turn any ship into an explorer. Even combat ones suddenly don't take ages to fly.

* conditions apply: you need a big enough free rack to install it.

Exchange the useless autodock unit for the FSD booster, the only Guardian module worth the grind.

definitely worth it if you want to be able to get your vette (or even FDL) someplace far away without spending millions to ship it or like an hour to fly it there. My vette was a pure novelty I rarely used until I got the boost. I still use other combat ships more, but it makes the rotation now. Just be prepared to have to send away for whatever combat module you're replacing with it after the trip. Also, the added boost to my explorer really helps cut the monotany of getting from A to B down. It's easier to hit to neutron stars in your route planning, and so I can just about anyhere in the bubble in 1-3 jumps.

I'm a little shy on one of the data requirements for the fighters, so unfortunately I need to head back out at some point to grab it, but thanks to this booster, that won't take long at all. It's definitely the most all round useful guardian module.
