Krait is trading Shield and Hull Hardness for Agility I wager, since it's supposedly much more agile than Python.
Ill keep my two 6a shield cells and the biweave in my Python over a reduction in a 6 and gaining a slf any day. Sit in combat zones stationary and farm mats as a weapons platform ftw. Im really not sure what role this krait is going to fill aside from someone wanting a more complete multi crew experience.
It's pretty transparent that whole point of new ships is just to get people to buy cosmetics from the Frontier store.
Tearing up your 6a shield cell biweave Python to pieces. The Krait has supperior thrust and probably has better maneuverability. The SLF pretty much doubles it's firepower. While you try to manuever you're either going to be hit by the Krait or the SLF
I thought this as Ive had a fdl sitting mothballed for more than two years. But after spending the past three months in a Python that became my every-ship and taking out the fdl and giving her a go was amazing.
You cant really appreciate the level of fire power on something that mobile till you lock into something that isnt a fighter and just has big guns. Its the little things you forget about, like being able to eliminate small ships that could be a nightmare in a python in the blink of an eye, Manuever around your enemies and control engagements with its speed and handeling. The FDL really is the pinnacle of a combat ship and anything past that is just a weapons platform (Which can be cool and even superior in its application), but nothing keeps up with the pack and brings the guns like it can.
My combat performance in bounty hunting and combat zones has doubled. I can complete the combat zone massacre missions in half the time, even when it involves going back to station to rearm, the fdl has become my combat zone mission ship because it was made for it as long as you dont need to involve material collection (I havnt gotten into pvp with it yet, as it also has application there).
My recent experience really has pushed my love for the ship to the point where Id actually post on the forums in its defense because, maybe like me, the fdl is something you cant appreciate (I got it after vulture for my first combat upgrade) until you move on to more end game firepower and dont realize what its like to have that level of fire power without being sluggish and big.
I was hoping the Krait would be some middle ground between the Python and FDL but it seems like its just a gimped python with slf capability. I can see this if your going to multi crew and want to deepen that aspect but if not, why pick it over a python?
Maybe this scenario could come about pvp, but I ment my statement in the terms of pve content, I should have specified. I dont know if that changes what your saying. But it leads into my other comment about the fdl well. If I need combat superiority ill use the fdl. If I need a every ship that needs to do combat Ill use the Python, whats the krait for again?
Twitch Streamers who do PvP. That's where the money is according to Sandros. The rest of us are SOL.
Indeed except I shall stick with a C6 bi-weave and can always swap a C5 fighter hanger with C5 biz cabin for sightseeing tours to grind exploration rank ;P
I agree with the Dread Lord. What's the damn point of the Python? The FDL is a better combat ship. The Type 7 is a cheaper cargo ship/miner. The Anaconda is the king of the explorers. What good is the Python when the Krait is the superior multirole ship. I love my Python but it manuevers like a dead cow even fully engineered.
Its a good thing to have ships for everyone. Im not trying to crap on the new ship (Havnt tried it so its just all speculation and opinion). Im just hoping it has enough character and uniqueness to establish its own identitiy and hopefully be a competitive ship in terms of branching out the stable and adding one to the roster.
The point of the Python is if you want a mid game ship that can do it all and your not at the point of fielding multiple ships its perfect.
This is Fdev we are talking about. They are about as creative as rocks when it comes to gameplay mechanics. Few people wants to use the Python for PvP so it gets tossed asside.
