Python vs Krait MK2
just watched the live stream! :D its better than expected!

Identical hardpoints!
Both have 4 Utility slots!

Same main internals!!!

Only difference in optional internals seems to be that the Python has one more Size 6!
But the Krait makes up for it with the ability to equip a SLF!

Speed and agility a bit better on the Krait!

Shields and armor a bit better on the Python!

Oh boy this is going to be a very close call for me - cant wait to take her for a spin on thursday! Might just love that cockpit in VR with the two midium hardpoints in direct view! :D

If I like the overall handling I think I will finally switch ships! Giving up a bit of defense for more offense!

Its basically a slightly worse python with a Keelback fighter bay, gutted the jump range is so average, was hoping to make a nice exploration ship that isnt a diamondback/asp exp or conda.

Will probably add one to the fleet though.

oh didnt check jump range is it better or worse than Pythons?

worse I wouldn say it depends on what role you want to use them in...

Seems a bit like the case of the type-6 and the keelback to me. The keelback trades a size-4 compartment and is three times the price for a SLF bay and a pair of medium hardpoints, rather trading some utility for combat capability.

But it does sound interesting, I will have to give it a solid look. I'm still undecided between the fer-de-lance and the federal gunship, and this might be what i'm looking for as a combat ship.

Yeah seems like a super keelback, but with python specs and size, Im curious how well it can be engineered for exploration.

If it can be engineered past 40lys, its viable for me.

Why will Krait Mk II have lower shields and hull than Python when both share same core internals? Normally, shields have an inverse relationship with hull - i.e., more shields = less hull and vice versa.

Since Krait looks bigger than Python, one would assume it has more hull and less shields?

I'm excited if Krait's will be very similar to Python. What remains unknown and matters to me is jump range and maeuverability...

well thats what they said in the live stream... and this is the actualy stat on armor:

Slightly worse armour: 770 vs 910 with military grade composites. left Krait

might make a better all-around material hunter. I currently use a Python but it has way more cargo than I need. Would be nice to have some more stealth hacking megaship comms arrays for data mats.

Sandro said a lomg time ago he's trying to get everyone out of shields and into more hull fighting so everyone doesn't run as soon as their shields drop. The last several ships all go in that direction.

That's not a bit but quite worse.

If Krait's maneuverability is worse than Python, then it won't be better :steammocking: I use Clipper for exploration and farming mats b/c it's agile. I would use FAS b/c it's more agile than Clipper except it can jump as far.

Sucks. I reckon he wants more players to combat Thargoids b/c most PvP players don't run away until their hull goes down to less than 10%. I don't run away from NPCs when my shields break but when my FAS hull is damaged, I have to wait minutes for repair limpet to do do their task - wasting time in a CG RES :steammocking:

shields: Slightly worse shields: 490 vs 557 again left is Krait!

Awww, but wait ... Python's base shield is 294 MJ only. So what are Kraits base armor and shield values?

Nvm, found the values on http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Krait_MkII. So, they are lower at 396 and 262 compared to 468 and 294 ... hmmm, armor is slightly lower and shields slightly higher than Clipper. Suppose the speed will make up the losses if maneuverability is better than Python - 3 vs 2.

Edit: And Krait jumps further than Python! I'm definitely buying it when it's released :)

well faster, tidbit more agile and a SLF versus more hull and slighlty better shields...

gonna be a close call! For me really comes down to how it handles and feels flying one in VR compared to the Python!
Witcher Jun 26, 2018 @ 6:29pm
Apart from lower armor and shields compared to Python, Krait also loses a C6 internal slot. So, it's a better ship than Python in my mind except latter still hold the best multipurpose ship.
caaront (Banned) Jun 26, 2018 @ 7:38pm
I'd much rather have an extra size 6 slot than an SLF.

The only thing I like about a SLF is going solo and deploying in it to fight.

If you hire a crewmember they take half of you combat XP and 100k of every million you make, all the time.

I must try both new ship[s out for kicks, but I am more excited by the Krait thsn the Challenger, but not by much.

I might fall in love with both though, I hope I do.
Witcher Jun 26, 2018 @ 8:05pm
Don't disagree with you about the SLF but a fighter can help distract/divert heat from your mothership. Fighter hangers also come in C5 with one fighter only.
