Despite naysayers 7 efficient beams on a Vette work great.

I am at 7 G5 beams now, and I'm going to go try them out.



The following are G5 with thermal vent: 2 huge beams, 1 large beam, and 2 medium beams.

And the two small beams are at G3 with thermal vent.

My results on the first outing at a CNB:

My first target was a deadly Clipper, he was dead in about 5 seconds at the most.

Not all ships died that fast, but they all died pretty quickly including an elite Type 10 and Anaconda.

The 2 huge and the large are gimballed and my primary weapons, and the 2 medium and smalls are turreted.

When I target the ship and squeeze the trigger it sends 6 beams out, I let off and the turreted beams continue to fire, but barely move the bar, when the ship gets closer I blast him with the large and huge beams, his targets go down and it is a quick death.

If he manages to get around me the turrted beams still cause damage as I get him back in my gimballed sights.

I rarely have to use all the huge beams up, in case I do I switch to the next firing order which is just the huge aND THEW LArge beam.

Rank will be coming faster now.

I am at a CNB in solo, no need to see nor hear about PvP builds, or any other builds at all. Just letting folks know that it works great.

Just 2 large beams and nothing else work great.

This is the motivation I need to go get some cadmium and selenium.

i did 5 long range pulse and 2 overcharged huge multis and im happy with it stuff dies fast and unlike you i have no drop off till 6Km.


How long can you fire the long range?

I had long range but did not care for them, I like to fight up close, I hate fighting from a distanmce, so the efficient fit my style of fighting.

I like to see their eyes as they realize they are about to die, it makes it more personal and satisfying.

I love MC's and have some in stortage, I just hate running out of ammo.

Please note, I am not going to use all 7 beams all the time.

I am going to experiment quite a bit, and find the best bang for the best length of time.

I will have one firing order with all 7 lit up, for that extra punch.

Thus far I have them set up like this so I can go through them in a series if need be.

1. All 7.

2. All turreted.

3. Huge.

4. Huge and turreted.

5. Huge and large.

I love having the huge beams alone, then having the huge beams and the large with them (I wish the large was not so far back, I hate it, same as the huge on the FDL, so far back you have to have your nose just right).

The only reason for the medium and small beams are for turreted weapons to keep shooting them if they get out of my field of view with the gimbals.

I love many other weapons, but many of them are limited on ammo, and many don't fire the instant you squeeze the trigger.

This might not be satisfying for many folks, and that's quite alright, because if we were all the same it would make for a boring world.

Thank you.If I had all long range I'd probably receive less damage in a session of fighting, but I just like the adrenaline of them blowing up right in front of me, and seeing the details on the wreckage as it goes past me, etc...

if you are doing a lazy mans PvE has res ship do all 7 as turrent pulse lasers with overcharged long range and just sit back and let the turrets kill everything. stick one cargo in your hold and use fire at will.

For the small slots on the Corvette, use two pulse laser turrets modified for long-range, put Scramble Spectrum and Emissive Munitions on them - they'll occasionally short out a module on the opposing ship, and the emissive effect will make it much more difficult for the opposing ship to hide even if they drop heatsinks etc.

didnt even consider this lol, im guessing you wanna have a well engineered shield... and not to leave it afk for too long

who was naysaying? :tgrin:
if you are just grinding combat rank a large ship with only a light show is the fastest, easiest way to go
do it in CZ to up the pace even more
longrange are for smaller ships really and pvp which is also where other weapon types come into play
