Anyway - can you throw us your build? Maybe we can give you couple of hints
I don't actually have either on my DBX though, it'd mean sacrificing the shield gen, cargo rack or SRV. With the distances I travel that's fine, though deffo makes sense to have the AFMU on an exploration AspX.
Not at the computer at the moment and the build is in progress anyway but I will upload it later on.
But it’s Pretty much maxed out for range now. Every thing light weight. I have about 57 ly as it is. So pretty happy with that.
I need to add an SRV bay and whatever I decide to take, limpets or AFMU.
I have used an AFMU in the past. But limpets weren’t in the game at the time. And I haven’t messed with them yet so not really sure what the differences are.
I guess when exploring and out in the middle of nowhere it's different though.
repair limpets repair hull and power plant.
AFMU has zero weight and carries its own ammo. limpet controller has weight, and requires empty cargo room for limpets so it needs 2 module spaces.
both limpets and AFMU reloads can be synthesized so you don't necessarily have to fly around with limpets, but you DO have to have room for them.
Ahh. Ok that explains it. Now I just need to see if I have enough space for both. Might be a bit crowded.
Though tbh I'm not sure what they're for yet. It might just be something to do with megaships and not necessary for normal exploration. *shrugs*
I actually took 2 AMFUs - if one gets broken, the other one can fix it :D
The only thing I forfeited was any cargo space...which was a little annoying once out there, as I came across a couple of signal sources that turned out to be cannisters of private data - I couldnt scoop them.
I did take an SRV bay, but didnt use it this time. In fact, I had no problems and did not need to fix anything, returning home with the ship's condition at a full 100%.
Being out in space, just me and my ship (with VA assistant), doing what I want when I want. Just a great feeling. Man, theres no other game out there than can lick ED's boots for evoking such an experience. It was tremendous.
Grind? Where?
I've never played with that much, other than a quick go at VoiceAttack demo. Heard it's good but I don't really have a problem with my HOTAS setup tbh plus speech recognition doesn't tend to play that nice with me. Some of the videos I've seen of the conversations people having with it etc look pretty good though.
But I will try and pick something interesting to go see and hopefully not get bored too soon.
Only have about 14% to go to make Elite so...... thought I stayed out long enough on my last trip to hit Elite but no.....
Staying till space madness hits this time. 😀
I have a Scottish accent and was a bit wary that VA wouldnt recognise much, but it amazed me - still does - by its ability to understand what I say. It does an excellent job. The conversations include the ability for VA to ask you a question, wait a set time for a reply, and then give a reply tailored to your response. Ususally, its "do you want me to do such and such?" Yes gets a "ok, will do commander" while a no gets a "as you wish" type answer. It even gives a third answer if you ignore it :) It adds so much to the game. I have a HOTAS too.
With regards to the scanner, there was four unidentified signals I tracked down in total. I was able to scan one by lining up my ship with it, and with the other three I popped into normal space right in front of a cannister and some ship debris. I couldnt scan the cannister and it was showing me that I had 0/0 cargo space, so I assumed it was scoopable and not scannable. This was about 1200 Ls from the Bubble, so not really that far.
Still not sure what they were/are.
