can i improve the SRV controls?
i really, REALLY dislike the SRV controls, and what i'm about to say could piss some people off
but does anyone have a more first person shooter kind of binding i can use for the controls of the SRV? for example, i press W, and Go forward long as im pressing W, same goes for S to go backwards, the having to deal with throttle constantly is irking to me

try turning drive assist off. (like flight assist for your SRV)

set left/right turn to A/D

set X for hand brake

use mouse for turret control.

remember that A/D and W/S is also used for attitude control while you're "flying" in your SRV.

This, drive assist off lets you drive the SRV like a car from lets say Forza etc... Without the stupid non stop acceleration

I've just got my hands on a steering wheel with pedals and it makes driving the SRV a lot more fun and immersive.

i like this idea i never thought to connect my g29 steering wheel and set the buttons for it...

A huge improvement for me was configuring a controller, and then using this setup:

https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/3x77mb/trying_to_sort_out_all_the_new_input_binds_you/

However, with 3.0 it seems once you do this you will have to have your controller plugged in or turn on the Steam Controller if you use that everytime you start ED, otherwise the game produces an error in a .txt file in the directory of the keybindings saying it can't find it and use the default control scheme instead. For everything, not just the SRV.

(And no, the game doesn't tell you what's wrong when this happens.)

Shoudn't do. The game can recognize multiple controllers attached. The only thing it doesn't do is in your control settiings it doesn't show you which device the bindings are attached to.

So, for example, i have primary fire on my ship set to button 1 on the HOTAS. But on the wheel its set to button 2 for the SRV. So it shows button 1 and button 2 respectively. But it doesn't meam that button 2 on the wheel ill fire the weapon on my ship. It doesn't. I could set a secondary fire for the weapon on my wheel for my ship... which would be strange, it just doesn't display which controller its attached to.

Basically a minor UI issue. But since i know for the SRV all controls are on my wheel and mouse (mouse for turret - drive one handed while using the turret) and ship is HOTAS there is no confusion when setting bindings.

Anyway, give it a try, its really cool.
