Elite Dangerous

Trading between Players
Me and my Fiance got this game to play together but we havent been able to find anyway to transfer currency between eachother. It makes coop rather unrewarding so I was hoping to get some help on this front. Items, money, there's gotta be a way to trade right?

You can help her out with wing missions. If you hall the cargo, or whatever mission ,she will get the full payout when you complete as long as she is part of the wing, has accepted the specific mission and in some case she also needs to be in the same system.

not really. I'd wager you're about to get a bunch of condescending nonsense about how it's somehow a positive feature of this game that this isn't there. Shame on you for wanting to help your friend advance quicker... you should really not focus on money and blah blah blah.

One thing you can do is load up a bunch of expensive cargo in your ship, jettison it in space, then your fiance grabs it and sells to the station, but it's a slow process. Realistically, you're better off running some wing cargo missions together, bounty hunting in a haz ree together, or doing some other cooperative task. Which is probably what everyone else will say here as well, after they explain that you wanting such an in game feature is foolish.

An online, multiplayer game without trading? God can you imagine if something like eve had no player trading lol. Honestly that is seriously absurd, we were hoping to go mining together. Seriously why make an online game and then punish cooperation? I really hope the devs realize that lack of trading is honestly a horrendious idea and add it. Can't imagine what they were thinking.

agreed - the profit sharing system is a bit twisted in general. I think they're planning on making some sort of change in the future, along with an overhaul of mining in general, but we'll see how well that really turns out. Technically, you can mine together, but you both need to collect rocks and do the refinery. It doesn't really work to have one person hauling like in Eve and another mining, or have one person firing mining lasers while the other scoops / refines. Division of labor / organization in general isn't really feasible do to the lack of such a system. Trading too is pretty superficial. It's all BGS driven as opposed to player driven, like what you see in games like Eve or even SC. You can affect the BGS but it's not like you can do things like corner a market or the other fancy economic games you can do in Eve.

Some would say this is because ED is more about the mechanics of actual flight, which is true. This is why I love ED... combat is far more interesting than anything you'll find in Eve, which is just point and click with one second updates. It's super lame... worst part of that game, and the best part of this one. But honestly, holes like this, and several other, like with the way system wars work, are pretty frustrating. Makes the game feel pretty one dimensional at times and is why many make the 'mile wide, inch deep argument.' Still, the combat really is awesome, and engineering is pretty rewarding. That's why I play at least.

they are thinking about developing their own game the way they see it fit, and elite is before being a multiplayer game a solo game if you did your research.

now for the reason why there is no trading between player that is simple, avoid gold farmer at top i'd guess.

on a more seriosu note tho, there's plenty of feature you may appreciate together with your wife, multi cre for instance or as said above, wing mission

You'll find this game's online features to be archaic at best
You can transfer credits to anyone, but you have to do it via commodities. Buy some expensive commodities from the market, and abandon them in space for another player to collect.

As soon as you give the ability for players to trade stuff, you open the game up to gold farmers.

1) There are lots of ways for you and your fiance to earn credits together (the couple that res hunts together, stays together!)

2) player trading, as others have said, enables gold farmers. Gold farmers ruin games.

3) EVE and Elite have about as much in common with eachother as Super Mario and Legend of Zelda (hell, i'd argue the later have more in common with eachother than the former).
MadArtillery Apr 3, 2018 @ 6:11pm
I really don't see how gold farmers are some big issue. Pretty much ever multiplayer game since multiplayer games have existed have had them. And you know what? The games are great regardless. It's not an impact, it's just a cost of having multiplayer, it comes with the territory. Killing the potential of the game over this absurd obsession is honestly rediculious.

As for the eve vs elite, they really are nearly identical in so many ways. Even the leaving the tutorial station and instantly dieing to another player is the same lol. What I learned there has carried over in most aspects of the game, it's makes the game familar even though I've never played it before this point. It's fun playing what amounts to first person eve.

I will admit that not being able to transfer credits to another person can be annoying. However, thanks to the addition of wing missions, players are able to get a large amount of credits in a relatively short amount of time (as long as they have a large ship with a good amount of cargo cappacity). Also, from what I can tell, only one person really needs to participate and everyone can collect the rewards. So if you and your fiance need any help with getting credits I'll be willing to help.

With how meaningless credits are in this game, would it even be a good target? lol

Nothing for free.
Earn it or do without.
No need to complain.

and how low the population is compared to many other online games. Nobody would sell credits in this
Agony_Aunt Apr 3, 2018 @ 10:09pm
OP - which is more fun? Gifting her credits so she skips the early game, or taking her RES hunting in her Sidewinder so she learns how to play the game without worry over rebuy costs, and generate money together?
