Is this like Euro Truck Simulator in space?
It's been a while since I've gotten into a good space sim. I'm hearing a lot about how grindy this game is... What's the sim to grind ratio? My way of looking at things is the "simmier" stuff is the less "grindy" it feels because you get rewards from mastering the mechanical depth of the game. If this game is super "game-y" and grindy at the same time it's not going to be worth it for me. Thoughts?

This game actually got me into ETS. Having played both now, I would have to say that deliveries are often a lot shorter. 5-10 minutes tops, depending on where they want you to go. However, I get more of a "rub hands together when you get paid for a delivery" feeling because it's money that can be used for other things, as opposed to ETS when it's the only thing in the game.

While there is a thing such as upgrading your ship, just like you can upgrade your truck in ETS, you're upgrading your ship to perform better in all aspects of the game, not just travel and cargo holding like ETS. You can definitely focus the build of your ship to do so, but if you're expecting super in-depth simulation as far as deliveries go, you're not going to find it here as it's only one aspect of the game.

As far as the grind goes, you're better of typing "grind" in the search field of the forums, as this would be yet another thread that would get a whole lot of arguments on that subject on both ends, which is the last thing this forum needs. There's tons of threads and videos on Youtube on that subject, though I recommened on keeping an open mind and not see things as only being one extreme.

Okay, thank you for the response. I'll look into it further.
Its funny, because i only looked at ETS because people kept saying ED is ETS in space.

Which is complete rubbish, its nothing like ETS. ETS is all about the journey between points, the handling of the vehicle. Its a damn good game, but nothing like ED.

Trade is but one component of ED, its the entirity of ETS, except in ETS its not really trade, more like running delivery missions in ED.

"Is this like Euro Truck Simulator in space?" You could say that it is but a thousand times better.
ETS is a better hauling game than ED by far

Yep, the scenery is nicer. But those speeding tickets!.. Here at least they don't fine you, unless you actually hit somebody. :)

It is but the ships are much more in depth, the travel time are a lot longer, where it takes hours and days and weeks to traverse huuuge distances across the galaxy (if you choose).

But it's mainly like ETS but better, and yet no "business" aspect as in you can't hire people (players nor NPCs) and you can't manage any kind of company. Also there are no skills or perks to unlock.
yeah these space trucks are great try sticking your head out the window in super cruze lol

Hmm... I can actually do it in VR. Need to try it out! :)
If every truck in ETS 2 had machine guns, missiles and mines with which to destroy other trucks...maybe. But no ED is nothing like ETS 2 and vice versa.
Mostly yes, you will spend countless hours looking at numbers get smaller, then eventually arrive somewhere, just to get to watch numbers get smaller again.

You definitely do the trading wrong! When I arrive somewhere - my numbers always get bigger by a few millions. :)
