Road to riches
What is the min jump range required for this?

I wouldn't approach it with less then 25 also don't forget your fuel scoop...

I do recommend something around 20 but you shouldn't have much trouble with roughly over 10 i think. At least not for the first 30 locations yielding over 20M credits.
Most locations are about 30 ly apart from each other(average), so there is no need for a ship far beyond 20 unless you want to do everything with 1 jump only.

I started the road to riches unengineerd on my first day in ED in a Hauler with around 20 LY range and changed in the middle to a DBX. Not recommending to sell the scan data before the end you will need it for the engineer felicity farseer.

Thanks, that is good info. As far as felicity goes, I already unlocked her. Up until now, I have not done any proper exploring. Just scanning as I trade or unlock engineers. Now I'm planning on putting some time into exploration and road to riches seemed like a logical way to get my feet wet.

A very logical one would be to engineer your FSD first. You wouldn't need it on the way there, but you will dream of it being engineered on your way back. :)

Yeah, will do, have the blueprint pinned so it should be relatively simple.

Iirc, you can just plug in your jump range and it will make the required changes to the route.

If I am misremembering and its another site, use them in conjunction, it will be one of the main ones I'm sure. (May be the Neutron Highway one)

I thought he was talking about the fixed rout from reddit, the old one before the road to riches plotter was made.

Either way, you can use (I honestly now think its the Neutron Star one) something to plug in your jump range and desired "next stop" system.

It should plot a decent route for you, assuming it is beyond the normal range of the ingame plotter.

Honestly you could probably do a lot of it in a sidewinder (with class A FSD)

on a 2nd account I recently decided to do the entire thing.... in a cobra mkIII with 20Ly jump range.. went without docking from start to finish

I used https://www.alpha-orbital.com/pathfinder for the list of planets.

It took me just a bit over 9 days of flying 4 to 6 hours a day to visit all 557 planets on the road to riches [not to mention scanning a mess of others that were in systems between RTR systems (some of those are 30-40 ly aparet to as much as over 100Ly apart]

I used EDDiscovery's statistics tab to keep track
Over the course of that 9 days:

703 jumps
11,673 Ly travelled
1531 scans
344,905,892 total estimated scan value (according to EDDiscovery, I haven't sold any data yet.)

Wow, that is some serious exploring in a compact period., in a cobra no less. I am impressed. 4-6 hours of day for 9 days seems like an intense pace.

One more question for you exploration vets. Is exploration something that is practical to do in a wing? If so, how does that work exactly?

For the road to riches, do you have to selct each system manually or is there some way you can create a route?

You have to set each one manually. The only route planning possible is when you have more than one jump to get to the next one. Elite doesn't do "waypoints" in navigation.

Note the pathfinder page has a button (looks like a clipboard) next to each entry so that you can click on it and have the sytem name copied to the clipboard which will let you paste it into the map search ... takes a *little* of the tedium out of it.
