How many systems scanned/Ly's traveled/cartegraphics sold to raise explorer rank any?
While trying to decide what to do with a Cutter in another thread, I thought about making it a fancifeid spandangled high fallutin exploration ship, for 1/1000th of a second.

I then recalled that I have been on three miniexploration jsunts and have sold millions in scanned data and in long as I remember/started actually paying attention to my explorer rank, I have gone from Ranger 48%, all the way to Ranger at 49%.

I never worried about rank as far as anything other than King and Admiral until recently.

I ranked Elite in trade many moons ago with no idea what it was, I was just taking missions out the wazoo, then got a notice I was promoted to Elite.

One day I looked over and said, How did I get ranger in exploration, to 48%, I had never done much of anything, had not scasnned crapola.

Then after I consciencely started trying to add points , from then till now, I've added one point.

I raise my combat points easily by BH'g.

But I spend three hours, scanning 20 systems, stars, planets, everything, and sell the data, then make 20 hops at 55-60 Ly per hop scanning just the trarget system, and scan every new system along th4 way when traveling to engineers and sell the data...

All that over a couple of months just here and there, and have gained 1% in rank.

I am lost.

exploration rank depends on how much exploration data you've sold.

so... scanning in and of itself won't get you rank.

selling low value exploration data won't get you much either.

I think its about 1 billion in total exploration data sold to get elite. the last rank alone is like 300 million.

So 5 million is useless then.

So to make any rank one would really have to spend a month of 8 hour days scanning non stop to get enough good data to sell.

LOL, I went from Aimless to mostly aimless, scout, surveyor, trailblazor, pathfinder, to Ranger at 48% without a clue.

But since I started trying I went up 1%.

That is funny stuff there, lol.

for 7.5 million you can buy instant allied status from neutral with any controlling faction..... unless of course they happen to be in a state that ignores exploration rep.

it doesn't take THAT long if you scan valuable systems. a good system can be worth millions.

taking named passengers will up your explo rank faster

Short VIP trips, or longer VIP tours?
it is just how much money you earn doing them
the cargo got old with me quick out at sothis , so i started doing beacon trips from ceos to sirius atmospherics in sothis, mostly crims, they are much faster to do
i went from scout to pioneer pretty quick, that last rank is a pita though, i'm only 26% done and i swear i had been doing it longer than it took me to do all the other ranks :tgrin:
i'm off doing engineering now

I loved the becon runs, but wqas too scared back then to take criminals, I did not realize how simple stealth is, lol.

Do a search for 'Road to Riches' its a list of exploration stuff: systems with high payout stuff like water worlds and earth like worlds. scanning these will get you decent payouts for exploration rank

I don't know about that total figure, to be honest. I have a grand total exploration income of 230 million and I am at 54% Pioneer.

Been doing the road to richs on and off and frankly I don't get the logic in the way they chose the planets to add to that list. I went to one system and the two planets listed, one was earth like and one was a water world, yet the very next planet in the system and NOT on the list was also a water world.

In another example there was one planet in the system to do and it was #9 I think. Since I had to fly past 1 to 8 anyway I scanned them on the way. All 8 were high metal content worlds and the only one on the list, #9 was a high metal content world. What made #9 special and 1 to 8 not even mentioned?

both the numbers and payout may have changed since I got my elite in exploration.

I have been seeing 49%, but ity is still at 48%.So I have been at 48% all this time.

I've done two ten-twenty system trips from the RTR and got zero more rank %.

Like I said, from day 1 to the day I knew what exploration actually was I went from zero to Ranger 48%.

Then I started trying to raise it a bit, and I am still at Ranger 48%.

But, right nowe I care less.

I want to gather engineer mats and wake scans, and make money on my missions.

I've done at least 10 15 full systems, made money but zero rank, I followed RTR's out 10 systems out twice, once out, then once back toward home.
