Audio issues with the Oculus (solved finally)
Is there a way to tell Steam VR to play through my regular speakers and stop using the Oculus headphones?

One of my headphones stopped working and I am putting in a ticket. But in the meantime if I can get the sound to come out my regular speakers I can still play.

I know tho is probably simple but I am not finding it.

That's a Windows thing, open the Sound control panel and choose a different Default Playback Device.

Did that..... doesn't work. It's Steam VR that insists it wants to use the Rift speakers.... I even disabled the Rift speakers. It's Steam doing it..

It works through the speakers if I launch the game from the Elite launcher and not through Steam.

I will check the Steam VR settings though.

Marking this as solved since I can play again.

Next time getting the Vive.

Thanks.

I think you can quit steam after starting the game. steamvr is a separate app and doesn't require steam to run.

OK, I don't have SteamVR installed (plus I don't use Steam to launch E:D), so that's never been an issue for me

I spoke too soon...... if I start from the Elite launcher yeah I get the sound but no VR.... just flatscreen. Can''t find any place to tell Elite to use the Rift. If I launch from the Oculus app it says I cant log in. If I launch from Steam VR... no sound.

And Turd.... I can' find anywhaere to change audio options.... where do I look?

The only settings I can find are while actually using the Oculus..... and I am not finding anything related to audio there..... I will look again but I would like it if there was a non vr way to change this stuff....... maybe there is but I can't find it....

it might look different for you....I have a Vive so the options might change.

For me there's a drop-down menu that lets you pick your audio output and input devices and another set that lets you select devices to switch to when StemVR exists.
