(SOLVED!) Is there a way to find a close black hole?
Hey. I have been playing Elite Dangerous for a little while now and I kind of want to see a black hole. I know they are in the game and I have seen some of them on the galaxy map but they were all in the middle of the entire map. Which means it will take like thousands real time years to get there... I decided to search for black holes that were closer to my location but the closest I have found was still really far away... Does anyone know if there is a way to locate black holes so I can maybe find one thats atleast possible to get to? I use the Cobra MKIII ship btw.

Thanks for reading!

Do you think those are the closest ones possible? Because though it's alot better then the other ones I got it will still take forever. These other options would take years and this probably a few weeks. Ty for helping!

They are very hard to see even on system map(empty space).

I was there seeing Palin like 20 times before I even noticed that. 😀

To be honest, based on the several that I've seen so far, they really aren't that amazing unless it's in or near a nebula. Then it's pretty trippy to fly close in around it and play with the gravitational lensing effect. But if there's nothing in the background, not much to see.

This is one area in the game where I wish they'd beef it up a little. Black holes should be the big baddies of the stellar catalog. Should be a lot more dangerous than they are. You get too close, should be instant ship spaghetti. I found them to be a little bit underwhelming.

Well. I wanted to go to a black hole that wasnt in a nebula because it was the closest one but since you said that without a nebula its alot less cool I changed my course to Maia. Ty for telling.

You need to find a Black Hole with enough mass to form a singularity of at least 0.0001 Solar Radii to actually "See" the black hole. Otherwise, all you can see is the Gravitational lensing, and not the actual precipice of the event horizon itself, which looks a bit like an extremely reflective perfect sphere.

Kinda spoilers, but seeing a picture of one, and seeing in motion while you fly around it are entirely different experiences.

That's good to know. I haven't seen any truly massive ones yet. Thanks.
