If you really want to kill Goids, get a T10 or Federal Dropship. And at least the Guardian Gauss Cannons.
Flak launchers can be useful when starting out, and are not needed at planetside AXCZs due to the thargons not being present. Case in point it is circumstancial when/if they are needed.
More information can be found on the AXI webpage and CMDR Mechan youtube.
Neither show up in any of the Ax build guides which are on the internet.
Just throwing that out there.

I use a Vulture as a pure scout killer (2 x size 3 ax multis). That's a ton of fun.
An AX ship needs to be fast, cold, and heavily armored. Firepower is a nice bonus, but more can be done with less if you have the essential three.
The Federal line of ships has lots of firepower and heavy armor, but they are neither fast nor cold, so you don't tend to see them much in AX combat. The FDL, Eagle, and, to a lesser extent, the Python can get two out of three, but you really need all three.
Hence you see Kraits. Lots and lots of Kraits. The Alliance ships can do all of these, of which the Chieftain is just slightly better for reasons I can't remember. Imperial ships have trouble with with the armor and tend to be short on firepower, but are fast enough and cold enough that people use 'em anyway.
The big ships are penalized in AX combat by the fact that there are no huge versions of the Guardian weapons and is an experimental weapons limit, so they don't really get much more firepower and still suffer the agility problems. Nevertheless, you still see Cutters, because they are quite good for the reasons mentioned above, Anacondas, because people are lazy, and yes, type-10s.
Specifically you see type-10s with Enhanced AX Multicannons. Back when this thread started, those weren't a thing, and they were strictly terrible. With them, they are slightly suboptimal, but work wonders against scouts. They have to facetank everything though, so they have a hard time against interceptors.
Realistically an AX type-10 is a very valuable addition for several kinds of AX group activities but isn't something you should use solo.
