Is the Sol System Cool?
I have a Sol System permit, is it worth traveling to? Can you ride on features like Mars's Olympus Mons or Earth's Mount Everest, or are they restricted? Do they have good missions there?

A lot to ask. 😉

No landings on earth/mars (atmosphere). Missions like in other systems. Many beacons with tourist informations (lore).

Few tourist beacons, and that's about it.
You can't go to Mars or Moon("locked for future content", Federal ♥♥♥♥ is there), there are still no athmosferic landings...

I can't say that it's Cool. But it's not Hot, either. So far there is nothing special about it, other than familiar stellar objects names.

A couple of deep space probes (Voyager, for example), if you're prepared to google how to find them and then spend an hour or two in supercruise trying to reach them.

So the system...the system with one of the only habitable planets without needing to terraform...the system that we came from...is boring? What have they done...

I thought it was awesome. The lore was neat, but zipping through Saturn's rings was cool, as was flying by the Galilean moons of Jupiter. Mars was a surprise.

I took more screenshots from the Sol system than anywhere else. For me, it was completely different knowing that this was home as opposed to some procedurally generated random set of objects.

Also saw my first capital ship there. And crashed into it.

I never thought of taking screenshots until the other day. Sol seems like a perfect place for it. I'll do a flyby sometime soon and see what we have done to our poor Solar System in a thousand year's time.
lots of lore there..and it is vaguely more profitable than most other systems..but you will have to find that out on your own..i'm not telling you :tgrin:
no secret, just normal game knowledge incase that sounded to mysterious

See it before its turned to ash, thargoids are only 38LY away and closing fast. One or two weeks and Sol will be up to its ears in bugs. That is assuming they were able to grind a sol permit of course :steammocking:

I was gutted that we couldn't land on phobos and it didnt exist in game but it makes sence with it being tidally locked. I think ED has done the best it can with sol with its current limitations and saying the game is set in the future.

I suppose the thargoids better get to the 4th Federal Navy rank if they want to mess with our system ;)
Yeah, I'll go visit in the next few days. It's only five jumps away...

?
I don't understand anymore...

I literally just made it there a few min ago. I am going to wake up tomorrow and go to every planet and check the system out.

Thargoids are real like the Earth is round. Of course they're real in Elite: Dangerous!
