Elite Dangerous

Ships in Elite dangerous are pretty huge (perspective Star Wars)
as a big star wars fanboy I started to compare the ships from elite with those from star wars.
My conclussion is that the ships in Elite are fcking huge!!
an F63 condor is bigger/almost the same as a t65 X wing
a reletevaly small ship the viper mkIII is almost the same size as the Millennium Falcon (YT-1300F) and the vulture comfortably exceeds that size.
I always viewed the vulture as a slave I counterpart, but its like twice as big!
the anaconda is as big as a CR90 corelian blockade runner, the Fed corvette and imp cutter are even bigger.
''but Star Wars has the imperial class II star destroyer'' and to that I say yes but the imp Majestic Class Interdictor and fed Farragut Battle Cruiser are both bigger then a star destroyer xD
Star Wars still wins with its death star and super cruisers, but I think it's pretty crazy when you think about it.

To really appreciate the hugeness of E:D ships, you need to use a VR set! Then you can see that, for example, the Beluga Liner doesn't have a cockpit. It has a freaking bridge!

it does feel like it, but since it's postion is in front and not on top it's not actually a bridge, the only 2 ships with a bridge are the anaconda and fed corvette
(maybe I'm wrong though I'm not an expert on this)

Yeah, though I think a lot of the reasoning for the ships size is the choice to use tonnage as units.

The X-Wing don't need to carry anything other than the pilot in a very slim fitting cockpit. Whereas even the Sidewiner need to haul tons of cargo.

I have always thought that most ships in the SW universe are too small :) for what they do, that is.

Personally, I feel the number of seats, rather than positioning, are what define the difference. If it has more than three seats, it’s a bridge. Otherwise, it’s a cockpit.

That’s said, I’ve heard some compelling arguements that the only ships with bridges are ones that dock smaller vessels or parasites (such as SLF’s).

Does it matter how big the ships are when you can't leave your seat and do something on said ship?

Yes.

"The bridge of a ship is the room or platform from which the ship can be commanded."

"A cockpit is a name for the location of controls of a vessel."

The correct term would be spacecarft, not ship. Just saying.

I love machines. I like to control a massive machine like a flying mini mall and I like propelling myself through space with minimal equipment like Ship Launched Fighters. When I started this game I expected small ships to be like SL fighters size. I also expected fighter bays to cary our small ships we fitted for combat like the Vulture. I am amazed the Beluga does not fit 500 passengers. I am also amazed the Generation ships hold near 20,000 people and everything to keep them alive for generations. I think the generation ships are way off scale.

"A spaceship is a craft, vehicle, vessel or machine designed for spaceflight by centrifuging the space around the spaceship."

"A spacecraft is a vehicle or machine designed to fly in outer space."

"Rocketship, Rocket Ship, or Rocket ship may refer to: A spacecraft"
