how long does it take rares to repawn?
i picked up a whole 4 units yesterday and gave up for the night, and just went back today and nothing

I don’t think they’ll respawn while you have those in your cargo.

something about only allowed so much at any given time.

I believe it’s to prevent people from filling up on a single rare good to sell.

You can only get so many at any time (maximum number varies depending on the rare). So until you sell them no more will spawn for you. Though it MIGHT spawn more if it was a low random spawn number the first time, but I never hung around long enough to find out.

As soon as you deliver the cargo you have more appear at the Lave station.

I use my Asp X to do those runs, its engineered for 55 ly jumps so running back and forth doesn't take long. Make some side trips do some exploring along the way. Its only a grind if you make it one :)

Another pointless time sink from the people who promised not to waste our time. If they want to limit the amount of rares thats fine but then forcing us to make 5 trips to the engineer because they decided he needed 50 rares, that is just abusive. It serves no purpose other than just making the the task a pain in the ass. This kind of ♥♥♥♥ is exactly why these "grind" debates start, over and over again. If Fdev would stop throwing in these pointless time sinks, their arguement of slow and steady progression might actually gain some traction. This kind of thing just pisses people off and they go rant about the grind. Fdev is their own worst enemy. They create all this needless drama for nothing. I am not against the idea of slow and steady progression, as long as FDEV makes that progression meaningful and interesting. This kind of thing is lazy game development and a poor gaming experience. I will give an example (certainly not the only option, but just an example for demonstration purposes) of how FDEV could keep the challage but eliminate the repetative times sinks. In this case, rather than 50 brandy, he could require 5 different rare goods. This would mean going to 5 stations, collecting the goods and making one trip the the engineer. It might even take longer to complete but it is better game play, it has some variety to it. The Guardian blueprints are another example. You only need one blueprint of something to have the scematic for how it built. You don't need 9 for example. The weren't even creative enough to make the blueprints, blueprint fragments where you have to find every fragment. Again, this is lazy on the part of FD and its poor game play for us. Rather than collecting 9 blueprints, for example, why not collect one blueprint and 8 other items in addition to the needed guardian tech from the sites or make the bluebluprints blueprint fragments. Something, that isn't poinless repitition. This, I believe, would go a long way in reducting the intensity and frequency of the great grind debate by improving everyones gaming experience.
i do have to kind of agree, it does seem rather lazy and uncreative
infact it is going to be far more than 5 trips as i can't get 12T per, even board hoping doesn't help
i have done 3 trips today, but i got bored of it and have actually been doing something else with my life for a change, perhaps that is a good thing :tgrin:

Straight answer: 10-15 minutes.
But as mentioned, your cargo hold has to have none in order for it to happen.
And definitely Boom States are your best friend.

Well, almost, because your best friend is, well, your friends. Best way to get around this is to have friends help you out buying the stuff for you, then transfering it to your ship.

Hell, it doesn't even hurt to ask randos in the station for help, people tend to be sympathetic to the situation, if for no other reason, because of how mind-numbingly stupid it is. If someone's there NOT for the rares, chances are he'll do his best to help out.

Speaking of the whole thing being stupid, i wouldn't remove the quantity limit, i would remove the Initial Contract altogether, as even without the quantity limit it's a pointless delivery when you can find the stuff in 30 seconds on EDDB.

Instead, i would increase the Invite requirements. I think those are useful, as they motivate players to perform activities they may enjoy but never tried because they don't know how or don't pay too well (Personally i wouldn't found out about the soothing effect of mining if not for Selene), so maybe make them so it's not the kind of stuff you complete in just a couple of hours and then move on.

yeah, it showed me mining was a relaxing little endeavor, but not when your carrying bits of painite all over the bubble as i ended up doing because i didn't head striaght for the exploit trail

Some of the rare commodities will respawn while you wait but only 2 or 3 more times & with the same quantity. Others as has been pointed out above, will only respawn when you've emptied out your previous buy. If it's for access to some engineer then bare in mind you'll only need to do it once. Fly safe Cmdr. o7
