If I remember correctly that means that one of the jumps required to plot that route exceeds the maximum distance your ship can jump to so improve fsd to further your jump range bubble

Your ship also can't plot a route longer than 1000ly, iirc.

If you get "route plotting failed" constantly -double check your jump range, you picked up cargo and reduced your range.

As for jumping further...

Just be careful when lining up to enter the jet stream, the neutron star has a veeeery big no-fly sphere. Also, keep in mind every time you enter a jet stream you take ~1% overall damage, so bring some means to repair be it limpets or AFMU.

You have two main setting while plotting routes:

Economic and Fastest.

Economic allows you to plot a route over a distance of 1000 LY. Everything that exceeds this is not reachable in one go however you can set a partial route.

Lets say your target is 1400 LY away so you set up your first route that brings you in the general direction of your target. After you closed some distance you can set up the route to your final destination.

Now we get to the "Fastest" setting.

This setting allows you to plot a route that can be at most 20 000 LY.
You also have the option to include systems with neutron stars to exploit their jet cones which in turn can boost your FSD up to 300% for a single jump.

However both options wont allow you to go over their maximum distance but both options allow you to set up a partial route.
Dont forget to bring a fuel scoop if you go for the fastest setting, though.

Oh ! One more thing. I think you can plot at most 999 jumps in one go. Dont know if thats entirely true.

You can plot a route up to 20k LY now, but each jump cannot exceed your maximum jump range.

Only that the neutron star doesnt let you crash in style.

No it forces you out of SC and prompty begins to rip your ship apart which i admit looks pretty but is nonetheless terrifying. :D

Oh right ! You are the VR guy.

Enjoy being ripped to shreds while helplessly tumbling around like a newborn who lacks the neck strenght to support its own head and desperatly trying to set up an escape vector only to see your canopy go all "LEROOOOOOOOOOY" into space. :D

Does the FSD Boost option take in to consideration FSD Boosts in Horizons or just neutrons?
