Well, why don't you just try them and see for yourself? What's stopping you?

Yes they do, your mining yield will be 25-35% larger when using prospectors, I'd never mine without them as you're throwing money away.

ANd i think A rated prospector will give you more than lower rated.

yes. it used to not so old posts (or people who haven't mined in a while) will tell you otherwise. I believe it doubles the yield if you put a prospector limpet on the roid you're mining.

Yeah. I also remember it being +100% yield in asteroids. Also they tell you what is in the asteroid before you start mining.

Hint: They take time until released. You have to wait and aim until they make that release sound or they fly somewhere else.

If not for the increased yield, use them to save time from mining roids that are worth less.

Yes , What he means is , When you first fire the limpet you MUST stay in the same direction you were pointing untill the limpet is in view or till you know it has been releast, Turning after firing these can result in a miss target and the limpet will just fly away in the direction your ship was pointing as it came out.

ah ok.

Essentially a Propector limpet lets you know what exactly is in the rock and in what %. If you are looking for gold for example you could mine for hours and maybe get lucky or in most cases be very unlucky.

So you fire off your prospector and let it report back to you what is in that big rock you are looking at, then you can decide if you want to mine it or not.

the other thing is to take a long hard look at the rings of a given mining location. Look at the planet and check the composition of the rings. There are usually two rings seperated by a dark band if you look at it from the top or bottom. The "A" ring is the one closest to the planet and the "B" is the one on the outside. Check the info and you may find that the A ring is mettalic and outer ring just rocks.
