Livery items for credits?
Just started my first game and thought i'd look at the shop\livery to see how many credits the smaller items cost so I could get an idea of how much i'd need to earn before I can start buying stuff.

I'm looking at wings, dash ornaments, colours, decals, ship extra etc.

I can see they can be purchased with real money but they are very expensive for what they are and purchasing the two items i'm looking at would cost more than I paid for the game + horizons expansion lol.

Is it possible to purchase any of these items with credits or is it purely micro transactions? If it's the latter are credits just for buying hardware like ships, weapons, vehicles etc?

Only real world credits. They do from time to time give stuff away and have pretty decent sale prices. But mostly it’s just pay real world money.

OK thanks. It's a shame they decided to go down that route.

The other option was a monthly subscription. The devs put it up to a vote back when the game started and that's what the players chose. It would be nice to be able to use credits, but most people aren't fussed over it. It's a way to support the devs if you want to, but it's not necessary.

Thankfully there aren't any micro-transactions for things that affect gameplay (modules, ships, etc.).

They didnt decide anything. Players voted that route over a few other options.

best way to keep a game alive is by having paid content.

And if it's a voluntary payment, and the content doesn't affect the gameplay - perfection!

Exactly! I'm more than happy to buy a skin or such every once in awhile in order to support the game. Monthly subscriptions are awful.

Cosmetic only and purchasable only, save the powerplay decals which are $0.00.

A small tip is to pay attention to the currency exchange rates. It's usually (slightly) cheaper to buy things under their price in pounds than their listed usd price. Not sure if that's something you can do with Steam, though, or how often they update their pricing (to more accurately reflect the exchange rates).

Unless your billing would require a currency conversion. In that case paying in your own currency might still be cheaper, than paying in pounds and letting your C.C. to do the conversion.

I wasn't aware of that vote back in the day. If those were the two options then i'm also glad they went down this route.

I still think the prices are a little on the high side though.

As has been said. The items are purely cosmetic and are meant to cover the server costs and maintenance of the game. So by buying one of those once a year you help FDev do that.
